Dead to Rights: Retribution

When I first saw this game both on Mightyape and on video preview, I had fixed feelings about it. I thought it would be like the other similar games I have played in the past. But in the end I bought the game to see what it would be like.

In the first 10 minutes of gameplay I found myself regretting my purchase, but as I forced myself to carry-on, I found that the game started to draw me in. 10 minutes turn into 1 hour and 1 hour turned into finishing the game. As I progressed through the story I found myself more and more drawn into the great storyline and gameplay.

You play as Jack Slate and his very very cool dog, Shadow. Throughout the game you control Jack and sometimes Shadow. This was one of the defining differences compared to others, the ability to play the dog. The other thing I also really liked was the combat, you can shoot-them-up or if that is not your thing, beat-them-up.

Overall this game is a must play, with it's fluid combat mechanics. great storyline and best of all the chance to fight together with a dog. A must get for anyone who likes action!!

Dead to Rights: Retribution is a great game. The blending of a reasonably indepth hand-to-hand combat system, And the standard Duck-And-Cover shooting can, at times be some what chaotic but for the most part it is very enjoyable. The Story and characters are quite cliche and comes straight out a b-movie/Direct-to-DVD release. It serves the game well though, and it quite enjoyable, Its aided by quite good acting(both voice and animation) in many parts. Jack Slate the games main character is you cliche hard boiled renegade cop but he is easy to root for and its always fun to play as the Badass.

Shadow is a shining point of the game and what differs it from you're standard shooter. He is implemented into the story well and appears in most cutscenes whether as a central part or just being a dog in the background. Shadow proves himself in combat helping you quite sufficiently defeating enemies(Fighting 4 vs 1, and winning at one point, leaving you to deal with the boss, in one of the boss battles.) and also he can be used to fetch guns, guard spots and The player is also able to take control of him in quite a few situations and he can be used to stealthily kill enemies. It is also fun to see the enemies see him sprinting towards them and screaming out for help and trying to run away.

The Setting and atmosphere is dark, grimey. Grant City is filled with all kinds of degenerates, Such as a Union who has become a gang of Thugs and a Triad group with Wild Hairstyles and painted faces armed with Martial Arts skills, Machine Guns, and Rocket Launchers.

All and All Dead to Rights while not a perfect game is a very enjoyable game with a fun(if not so original) action story add a Man and his Dog and you've got an enjoyable adventure. Full of action.
