Description

Set in the near future, the Battlefield: Bad Company single-player campaign drops gamers into a dramatic Eurasian conflict. As part of a squad of four soldiers, players risk it all to go AWOL on a personal quest for riches and revenge. Featuring a dramatic storyline flavored with dark humor, Battlefield: Bad Company leads gamers far from the traditional frontlines on a wild ride with a group of renegade soldiers who decide that sometimes the gratitude of a nation just isn’t enough.

The Battlefield: Bad Company cinematic single-player experience captures the freedom and intensity of the franchise’s legendary multiplayer sandbox gameplay in a dynamic world where nearly everything is destructible. Gamers have total freedom to be daring and innovative, adapting to and tackling challenges in unexpected “Battlefield-style” ways. Create sniping positions by blowing out a piece of a wall or drive your tank straight through a small house - anything can happen on an ever-changing battlefield, forcing players, their teammates, and enemies to react accordingly.

Battlefield: Bad Company also features a full suite of the franchise’s trademark multiplayer gameplay, supporting 24 players online.

Battlefield: Bad Company is the first game built from the ground up for next-generation consoles using DICE’s bleeding-edge Frostbite game engine, delivering unrivaled graphics, effects and gameplay.

Features:
  • Cinematic single-player experience - A deep campaign loaded with dark humor follows a wayward band of ordinary soldiers who risk it all on a quest for revenge and personal gain
  • War, your way - Battlefield: Bad Company sandbox environments are 90 percent destructible, meaning any structure can be demolished down to its foundation. Gamers can shape the battlefield to match their play style - the possibilities are literally endless.
  • New vehicles, weapons and toys - Land, air or sea, dozens of new tools are waiting for explosive experimentation. Battlefield: Bad Company gives gamers the building blocks to get creative and usher in a new era of their own “Battlefield moments”
  • Frostbite game engine - DICE’s Frostbite game engine raises the bar for next-gen gaming, with stunning HD graphics that bring characters, vehicles, and environments to life like never before.,
  • Genre-defining multiplayer - Support for 24 players online* in a world designed to take full advantage of the game’s massively destructible environments
  • True “Through the gun” experience - DICE’s attention to detail is applied to the act of firing a weapon. Dozens of subtle changes to the FPS formula add up to a vastly improved shooting experience.

5 stars "Quite Possibly the Best Shooter"
I pre-ordered and received the gold edition of Bad Company back in July and am still happily playing over two months later.

The single player game is "so-so" as far as shooters go, as the review below points out, but where this game REALLY shines is in multiplayer. If anyone ever needed a reason to fork out for broadband and an Xbox Live Gold membership, then this is definately it!

There are 8 MP maps, at varying sizes and two gameplay modes (the second - Conquest, is available as an update from Xbox Live). Some of the larger maps offer a multitude of approaches, as well as a vast array of vehicles from your modest, but quick military jeep, to your hulking armor plated M1 Abrams tank.

Multiplayer offers 5 diffferent soldier classes, each with up to 5 selectable weapons and a special "gadget" to use on the battlefield. The addition of destructable environments (buildings, houses and walls can be blown apart to reveal hiding enemies, or be used to create your own vantage points), sets a benchmark for all future shooters to follow.

This game is a MUST HAVE for anyone that has a Live subscription, but probably wouldn't be a deal-breaker on the single player campaign alone.

5 stars "Great online team based shooter"
I have played the Call of duty series online, also halo 3 and this is still by FAR the better online shooter ive played. (Ive also played frontlines and quake wars but no one plays those). I have a pretty quick broadband set up and lag doesnt seem to big an issue on this game unlike the Call of Duty seires of games. At least Halo 3 you can match up against people in your own country but that game sux big time. The idea of shields just bores me. Anyway, Bad Company has a great squad system where within your team of 12 there will be 3 squads of 4 and you can spawn on any of your squad members and can only communicate with your own squad members. The classes are fun to play and the vehicles even more fun. The objectives are challenging and team work is needed to succeed.

Single player is basically a big tutorial for the online play. The story is average, and i wouldnt suggest this game to someone without a broadband connection as they will find the game short and unsatisfying. Its all about the online play, and plenty of people play this game at all times of the day.

Buy this and get in some practice before Bad Company 2 comes out later this year! I'll definately be picking that game up ASAP.

5 stars "Best shooter this year so far?"
I was doubtful about battlefield before i brought it.

But I have played through the first bit and it's safe to say it's a must buy.

The graphics are great, storyline funny, with a great new control scheme.

I am more addicted to this game than I ever was with COD4.

9.5/10

4 stars "Great for its time"
This really did shape my thoughts on Online Warfare. Being used to the CoD series, and changing to Battlefield made me think more tactically. Graphics are really good. Campaign is a blast, with a lot of laughs. VERY EPIC worth the money.
