I wasn't a big fan of this game. Perhaps it would come down that I simply didn't give it a good enough go but I had played the game through and never found it – challenging except for maybe the first few rounds of my 1 play through. There was no battle tactics phase as you would have in certain other games, you simply attacked people if you were within the required hex range and that would be that. The researches, magic, etc have been seen better in other games.

Don't take this to say this game is awful, it was by no means bad. Visually it was quite pleasing and I enjoyed certain aspects of the humor and such, but it was just nothing amazing.

I wouldn't recommend it.

Ever played Master of Magic- How about Fallen Enchantress- Well… welcome to Warlock!!

Upon first glance it looks much like a Civilization clone and to a degree it is. Is this a bad thing though- Not in my opinion.

Warlock takes elements of Civilization and Heroes of Might & Magic then blends them together for a magical gaming experience.

It did take a few replays to get the hang of just how the mechanics work but once discovered, what a gem:D

I haven't had this much fun or spent this much time on any game outside of Civilization.

The game manual is pretty thin on explaining how everything works but for anyone who has played Civilization / HoMM / Kings Bounty etc will pick it up soon enough. Or you can go to the Paradox forums for more help.

Just one more thing – the game does require Steam (which can be make or break for some)

It may look like Civilization 5 but its so much more(and its not based off Civ 5 but the Elven Legacy engine) . There are unique races and Hero units as well as magic and all sorts of awesome things that make this game so much better than Civ 5 could ever be(except for the research/technology tree, it has a magic spell research tree)
