On a whim I nabbed the first two seasons of this when they were on special, having never caught the show when it was on TV. I enjoyed them so much I bought the next two seasons to complete the set.
This is an gripping look at the life of Henry VIII, and there are only two caveats I would add. 1) This is a sort of fictionalized history, so don't expect a textbook look at the life of this famous ruler. The writer has played a bit fast and loose with some of the details, but the spirit of the whole saga is no doubt faithful. 2) Be prepared for a bit of raciness. Bodices are not only ripped; they are, at times, put through the shredder and used as compost. If nakedness and sex worry you, it might not be for you. Me- I just looked the other way. Seriously. No … seriously. And now I'm sorry I used the word ‘gripping’ up there.
A great show overall, with a wonderful and capable cast. I highly recommend it.
