"A Masterpiece"

This is “The Bridge On The River Kwai” from a different angle. Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman are perfect acting partners for this very moving story of a mans lifetime of pain and mental anguish resulting from Japanese imprisonment and forced labour. One of the BEST movies I've seen.

"Excellent psychological journey."

The film takes a completely different route to the book but is enjoyable nevertheless. I would definitely recommend the book which is a page turner and hard to imagine you are reading an autobiography and not a novel. The film takes the journey of Eric Lomax later in his life with flashbacks to why he is the way he is. Nicole Kidman is excellent and of course Colin Firth as ever. The actor they casted as young Eric also has just the perfect timbre in his voice to pay a young Colin Firth. The story is astonishing and a part of history we should all be aware of.

This film is a must to see showing the horrors of what the soliders indured during the War by the Japanese. Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth are excellent and the end will leave you crying. This is based on a true story and is very memorable.
