Over the past seven months, Adam Young a/k/a Owl City has made a dramatic transformation as an artist in the making of his new album The Midsummer Station Steppiong out of his comfort zone to bring fans the most diverse range of tracks that still bear the Owl City vibe.
Earlier this year, Owl City dropped the Shooting Star EP to cleanse the palette of fans prior to the full-length, the result of which saw (Owl City: The Midsummer Station) trend Worldwide on Twitter. For the frontman Adam Young sought the Wisdom of producers and other artists they have never Worked with before.
For Shooting Star -the tirst song released and one of the focus tracks on the album – Young looked to friend Matt Thiessen (Relient K), Stargate (Rihanna, Wiz Khalifa) and Robopop (Maroon 5), and for Gold – another tune set to explode ainNaves – he employed the skills of Josh Crosby, Nate Campany, and Emily Wright (Dr. Luke’s engineer).
A couple of collabs can be found on the release too, including Blink 182's Mark Hoppus and none other than fellow pop champion Carly Rea Jepsen. Young commented on working with the Call Me Maybe hit maker: “I love Car1y’s song Call Me Maybe I remember hearing it for the first time and immediately became a huge fan of hers -itis absolutely contagious. A bit later, I actually found out that she had known of my music for a while and even went to a couple of shows of mine in Vancouver so I definitely knew I wanted to collaborate with her.”
