DISC 1: Series 1
- 46-year-old Reginald Iolanthe Perrin decides he must break out of the confining box that has become his life.
- Reggie’s wife Elizabeth suggests he needs a long holiday. His boss C.J. agrees and offers to give him the afternoon off.
- To his great surprise, Reggie discovers his assistant Joan is most eager to mix business with pleasure.
- Reggie plans an elaborate dinner party but when the hungry guests arrive, he has a surprise for them.
- Reggie’s speech to the British Fruit Association degenerates into a disastrous drunken tirade.
- Having faked his own suicide, Reggie takes the persona of a bearded Welshman, an Italian tourist, an architect and a peer of the realm.
- Reggie decides to attend his own memorial service, disguised as Martin Wellbourne.
DISC 2: Series 2
- Tired of carrying on his masquerades, Reggie tells Elizabeth who he really is.
- Having sacked Reggie, C.J. offers Elizabeth a job at Sunshine Desserts but she keeps her new employment a secret from Reggie.
- Reggie is made an offer he can all too easily refuse, and inadvertently is given the very idea that will transform his life forever.
- Reggie opens GROT – Gifts You Love to Give to People You Hate. The idea is to stock things that are of no value whatsoever and sell them at high prices.
- Reggie employs C.J. and all his old colleagues, as GROT makes its move on Europe.
- Now that the enterprise he created to fail is such a wild success, Reggie decides to destroy GROT.
- Since he cannot scupper GROT, Reggie decides to disappear again and this time he has a companion to join him.
DISC 3: Series 3
- Reggie decides to form a commune in which there will be no competitive spirit whatsoever.
- The new staff have been trained. The doors of Reggie’s commune are wide open. But where is the public?
- The slow trickle of people into the commune becomes a fast flow. The treatment the clients receive is truly amazing – and so are the results.
- Perrins is in full swing, and communal social evenings are producing scenes never before witnessed in the vicinity of Oslo Avenue, Botchley.
- Reggie’s latest venture has become yet another enormous success, but how long can it all last?
- The commune is under attack – from within and without. It seems that nothing will be able to stop the rot.
- Reggie is offered a position with Amalgamated Aerosols, but even here the sweet smell of success still eludes him.
