As with all Peter Brett's books, a gripping, fast paced and extremely well crafted piece of work. Can't wait for the next one as the needed is the literary equivalent of the old black and white Flash Gordon episodes endings – a true cliffhanger..

TYo start i will say i loved the first two books. The storyline and the writing were good. i was looking forward to potentially my next big series to read. Unfortunately The daylight war doesn't meet those high standards that were set from the first two books. The pacing of the story, maybe it was the characters that he focused on. but i didn't fall into this book as i had his previous. also the title doesn't really represent the story arc of the book.
Peter V. Brett's books are some of the best fantasy novels I have read in a long time and this book is no different. I would however suggest picker up the other two books in the series first so you know what's happening.
Continuing the impressive debut fantasy series from author Peter V. Brett, The DAYLIGHT WAR is book three of the Demon Cycle, pulling the reader into a world of demons, darkness and heroes. Humanity is fighting back. Although the night still belongs to the demons that arise as the sun sets, new wards and weapons are giving those willing to fight in the darkness a chance to retaliate against their core-spawned enemies. But, as humanity is about to learn, not all monsters are confined to the dark. Civil war ravages the north and south, battles fought between those who should be working together. It is up to Arlen – the Painted Man – and Jardir – the self-proclaimed Shar'Dama Ka, the Deliverer – to put aside their differences and bring their people to terms if they are to have any chance of saving their civilisation from demon-rule.
Author Biography
Peter went to the University at Buffalo, where he studied Dungeons & Dragons, fencing, and girls. Somehow, he also managed to earn a (totally useful!) Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in Art History in 1995. Following college, Peter spent approximately 8 months managing a comic shop and pondering what to do with his life. He then went into medical publishing, squandering ten years of his physical prime sitting in a cubicle. He contented himself with writing books he never hoped to sell. In June of 2007, his hard work and perseverance paid off, as he sold his 4th novel, THE PAINTED MAN, and in October of 2007, he left his day job to pursue writing full time. He lives in Brooklyn NY with his wife Dani and two cats, Jinx and Max Powers.
