BBC at its best through this great saga of British influence over the last two thousand years. While being historical the series is beautifully presented and acted through highlights of Britain and British effect on our past and present world. I couldn't stop watching, and learned many things about my European history, some important, sum not, but all interesting. This DVD series will never date and is great value.

Description

The British documentary TV series on DVD.

Gripping drama reconstruction, the latest CGI, stunning cinematography, amazing time-lapse and aerial footage offer a fresh take on how Britain took shape. The Great British Story is a big, ambitious and gripping series about the history of the British Isles from Stonehenge to World War Two, the Roman occupation to the discovery of penicillin. At its heart is an intriguing question. Today, much of the planet's population lives in a British-shaped world. How did this clutch of islands off the coast of Europe come to dominate the globe? Each episode has six dramatised stories about tipping points in history when things really changed. These are extraordinary tales of human endeavour, struggles against huge odds and triumphs of the human spirit, inspiring invention and innovation, grit and heroism. Narrated by Ioan Gruffudd.
