"Not too happy with EA"
1 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Hi all. First of all, I would like to thank Mighty Ape again for their excellent service and communication. You guys rock!

Unfortunately, I am now on hour 2 after installing the game and still NOTHING! It first took about 30 minutes to be able to select the Oceanic server. Now it just won't log in. “Login is closed at this time” (could just as well be – Please choose a different time to play your single player game. Now is not convenient for us)

I have always liked SimCity. But the game has always been something of a time-waster game for me. I loved playing it when I felt a bit bored or had a few hours to kill. It is nothing like a MMORPG where you are willing to wait 20 minutes to enter a queue to play.

If this keeps on happening, the game is going into the bin. Not happy at all!!!

Maybe later I will up the rating, but initial feelings!!! Nah!

"It could be a great game - if I could actually play it."
1 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I was looking forward to this, as Sim City has always been a great way to lose several hours without even noticing. First sign of it not being what I expected was when it installed Origin, and not the game itself. It turns out I cannot play a game I have bought and paid for unless I am connected to their servers. And I cannot stay connected to any of the servers long enough to do more than place a single road – if I can even get that far. And it is not my internet connection at fault, either.

I realise that it is day one. Traffic will probably get more manageable. But I honestly can't think of any reason why I need to be online to play. Why can I not have the option of a single player game, unconnected to anything- All this hassle for the opportunity to play ‘socially’. If I wanted to socialise, I would not be shutting myself in my room to play computer games.

"Avoid Until EA fixes their servers"

The game is currently unplayable due to overwhelming numbers of people trying to connect to EA's servers. Its a pity that a person trying to have a single player experience is unable to.

"DO NOT BUY UNTILL FIXED!"
3 stars"

Currently this game is unplayable! It requires to connect to its servers to play and at the moment (and for the last week(launched in US)) those servers are falling over. You are lucky if you can get to the server select screen, if you can you get an error message stating that the sever is busy!

"Server Constantly Busy"
1 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Nothing to do with Mightyape.

This game is crap. You have to be online to play, and most of the servers are currently full. Took about 2 hours to get into a game, then the game crashed.

Wouldn't recommend buying this game at this time.

"Not as bad as everyone says"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Playing this game, I haven't had any problems. No server issues, no game-play issues, nothing. This is a great game, fun to play, addictive and a great way to relieve boredom. Give it a go and you will enjoy it :)

"Great service from Mighty Ape - EA Blows"
2 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Awesome service from Mighty Ape – my game arrived to great joy on release date. You guys ROCK! EA however blow goats. All a majority of users want is to be able to play this game standalone. But you have to be logged into a server to play a standalone game. UNFORTUNATELY said servers are always congested (probably by players who are staying logged in for fear of going back into a queue for ages). I have never before played a solo player game with this substantial limitation before. Had to wait ages after installing to get two large patches. Managed to get onto a US server at a quiet time to play the tutorial and then the next morning. Everything was too busy – frustrating to say the least. If a user wants multiplayer they should have the option to select it. If they want stand alone – make it available. Otherwise more users will just look to pirate out of sheer frustration. Pretty but very frustrating.

"Server Issues have been fixed"

This game was judged for it's launching issues. Just like to tell everyone that it has been fixed. Buy the game, it's fantastic!

Major worldwide server problems. No offline mode. Will give it 2 weeks to sort out otherwise its going back to Mightyape for a full refund and they can take it up with EA!

If you ignore those issues that haunted the launch, a nice game with a great inter regional mechanic but lacks the orginal feel of the games up to the third one in the series.

Released unfinished Left with small areas to build means you cant build mega cities like you could in 4. Server issues aside some of the new mechanics are good, but because of the limited space you are forced to focus on space management rather than building a functioning city.

"Interesting"

The game itself is pretty good but installing the game and patching the game can prove to be a mission. The game seems to have an issue with firewall software.

The one solution that I have found that allows you to play is to: search msconfig (windows 8 right click on the start button and click search, windows 7 left click on the start button), then go to the services tab, hide all Microsoft services and then disable all. Restart your computer and it should now work.

You could go through a process singling out programs to see which one does it.

Enjoy :)

The only problem I have is that sometimes it says it isn't connected but it really is. Other than that the game is awesome and has great graphics

"Great way to learn how city's work"
5 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

This game is so good you can spend hours on it day after day and everyone in the house wants to know how things are going with each city. Good, bad, challenging, this game is addictive and fun.

"Brilliant dont be put off by nay sayers!"
5 stars"

If your a simcity veteran this game is very different being a series relaunch so expect challenges and changes. If your new to this game its not a simple build a pretty city game. This time round its about building the biggest cities you can in the smallest space designed this way intentionally to encourage city specializations. You cant have the all rounder city but thats the game in a nut shell you might need a fully industrial city or a big residential city throw in some tourisim, mining, metal work, plastic reclaimation no matter how easy things are going another big hurdle is around the corner to throw a spanner in the works.

The DRM has been a pain but its working just fine now and being the game is primarily multiplayer but you can play single player anytime you like its acceptable.

Dont miss out on this fun and well thought out game there is more depth and content in here than most people care to find before they go back to call of duty.

"What a let down"
1 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Promised so much and delivered so little. To work properly you need excellent internet connection, high speed broadband and a pc no more than 1 year old. The cities are way too small and with only 1 rail and 1 road connection it just doesn't work. I can get it to function on mine but with the graphics res down so low it's not worth the effort

"Hours of Fun!"

When I first got my game, I played for nearly eight hours and never had a problem. Well worth buying, for the many hours of enjoyment you will get, and that's not even the start.

"SimCity- More like StressCity...yeah that was bad."
1 stars"

But seriously, with countless problems and getting kickout (not to mention having to be online to play) is just down right sad and a kick to the face.

I'm just gonna stick with SimCity 2000, classic! :D

"Bad, just really bad"
1 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape
  1. Need to be connected all the time
  2. It simvillage (not city) it very small land
  3. If you do manage to play expect your village to become corrupt, and be unable to load next time, or have it revert to last save some hours ago, so all that time is wasted
  4. Your “sims” work in the nearest building and return to the next closest building, so they do not return to the same building or job each day it completely random…
  5. Traffic issues, if your lucky you have 2 entrances from the motorway, most likely only one, expect major hold ups caused there…
  6. This is now up to version 3 and many of these issues are still not fixed…

"its ok i guess"
3 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Sim City – well its pretty, the graphics are good and the maps with wind direction, happiness, fire risk etc are like the old ones (only better looking). The game play is ok, services all run down roads and there are other improvements. But I miss the terrain altering abilities and truly expansive cities that you could build in the older versions. Now you just get little town/city’s that are within a wider region so your little city has to be connected to other little towns that either you or your neighbours (on line) can build in. and why when you are playing in sand box mode (so no on line neighbours) do you have to play on line, I was just a little disappointed with this one, lets hope the expansions improve it.

"Fix it"
4 stars"

For it to be a truly great game ea needs to fix the server problems and try and make an offline mode somehow.

"Very Intersting:"
2 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Two things, it will be intersting to see if this is the limited edition, and the graphics will tell the true story of what I have heard from family in the U.S.A and they say the game is very slow where the limited edition is faster.

Cheers

"Disappointing"
3 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

I love the SimCity series and have faithfully purchased each edition. I think the idea of multiplayer and working with other players in a region is a logical extension to the series.

But the execution is poor. EA have largely sorted out the server issues but everytime I go to play I have to wait 10–15 minutes to download some update which leads me to believe they have released a Beta quality game.

The game itself could be brilliant but there are a few things that mean it misses the mark – by a long shot. First the always on Internet requirement is okay I suppose – except the flaky servers mean there are always disconnections.

The city sizes are pathetic. I want to build a sprawling metropolis, but the best you might do here is a small version of Hamilton.

Could have been the best in the series, but in my opinion is a massive fail.

"Still cannot play this game"
1 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

It's 2016 and still this game is not playable as it still says that I have to re- install the game each time I install it. It plays if it would just stay with the original game without updating but as soon as you install it without permission it automatically updates then is unable to be played. Come on EARTH learn from Mighty Apes great service and up date their service to their customers.

"Great game, test your creativity!"

SimCity is great! It's awesome having a multiplayer feature to play with players from all over the world. This game really proves how creative you can really be.

"Sadly still has license issues one year later"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Mighty ape you guys still rock with awesome service!

After not so helpful ea support, Google was more helpful in getting me into an awesome game. So I got the expansion too.

However I haven't actually haven't played the game yet simply because “redeemed code doesn't match language” which apparently isn't enUS or enGB. And it seems another “anti-piracy” feature causing grief to genuine customers.

Everyone also knows EA support will say re-install so I've given up for now and decided to warn people don't get it unless you have unlimited internet and prepared to waste money. OR if its really cheap

"Solid game, good graphics, perhaps a small"
4 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

Purchased SimCity after all the server issues were resolved and haven't had any trouble in that regard. Game play mechanics work well and are enjoyable. Certainly got my monies worth out of the game. The game space area's feel far too small, if these were larger I would certainly play for longer
