Shiki part 2 is mainly about the 2 friends – the village doctor and the village monk – who knew fairly quickly what was going on, but they handle themselves in opposite ways. The doctor wants rouse the villagers who are left to face up to what is in their midst and fight back. He experiments with ways to kill the vampires so that when the villagers finally do believe he can present them with the solution. The monk seeks to understand the vampires. Are the vampires, who have to kill to ‘survive,’ really so different from the rest of humanity- While trying to find a reason for everything he unwittingly allows things to spiral out of control. Who is right- Is there a ‘wrong’- It comes down to this; if someone isn't to blame for their situation can they to blamed for their actions if all they're doing is trying to survive- And that very question is asked every day in courts of law the world over.
