Razer Kraken Headset reviews

As per the title, money is no object when grabbing a pair of these beauties. I upgraded from TT eSports Shock headset to the Krakens and I can say they have way better comfortability, flexability, sound input and microphone output. When I vent / skype / teamspeak / mumble, people keep saying that I sound better on the mic than when I'm next to them!

Sound quality is crisp and clear for both output and mic. Solid construction. Better audio than previously owned Astro A40, Logitech G930 and Razer Tiamat. My only issue is the braided cable rests on the shoulder/neck and when this contacts clothing it transmits a vibration sound through the left cup. I picked up a lapel clip to correct this. Synapse 2.0 software is very easy to use and has great customization options for the Kraken 7.1.

This headset offers great value for money. As it is USB powered, it may require a little tweaking to work, but once it's set up, it's brilliant. It fit a little snug for me at first, it felt like my head was being compressed, but after more use it fit a little better. It sounds great, and is a big step up from my Sennheiser HD 202s, which is big praise from me. Overall, it offers great value for money, and is a must for anyone looking for a good headset at a competitive price.

Love these my friends say razor just goes for looks but I am loving this headset it's got nice, great sound. Love the green glow looks so cool. Couldn't be happier.

This is my first Razer product and upon it's arrival I found myself joining the Cult of Razer. The packaging is awesome, design is great to look at (professional, sleek and I love the lights) and feels solid/sturdy. It's very comfortable (don't know what people are talking about when they say it's not and I use it for 4+ hours at a time) and, mostly importantly, it's performance is out of the ball park.

I use it for gaming, music and movies and have found the surround sound unbelievably realistic (once I even jumped because I thought someone was coming up behind me). I notice so much more depth and texture to my music and movies with these on.

The microphone is crystal clear and I find the sound isolation really good. I get absorbed into whatever I'm doing because of this headset. It can be a bit finicky playing with the volume controls for various programs and sorting out the sound device settings (especially when switching between headphones and speakers) but I'm not bothered by it.

These things are extremely painful to wear, my ears are aching after only an hour and it's only getting worse. The 7.1 is a buggy mess that barely works and when playing any video through Google Chrome the audio comes out crackly and extremely quiet. The Razer Synapse software seems to try and control each programs volume independently which results in every program having different volume levels, all far lower than the system noise levels so if you receive a system alert while your volume is maxed just to hear something you'll be deafened. My Planatronics 780 headset is leaps and bounds over this abomination of a headset, and it costs a lot less too.

The sound quality on these headphones is terrific. The only complaint I've heard from audiophiles is that the bass is a bit too punchy.

I used to go through at least one headset a year before I got myself a set of these. I've been using this headset since January 2014, and only just now is it getting to the point where it needs replacing.

I do have a few minor issues with this headset, however. The cups tend to hurt my ears after using them for a few hours. The in-line amplifier for these headphones is also VERY strong. To the point where they almost make a good set of speakers. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it makes tinkering with volume settings a pain, as you're working with very small values trying to get it right.

All-in-all, a very good headset.

Un-comfy on your ear, but makes up for that in sound quality

Loved these to start with (even though at first they are extremely tight until you wear it out), great to just plug in and use. However after a couple of weeks the stuffing just sort of fell out of one side of the band. The headset was only receiving normal use so I have no idea why that happened. Then after a few months the sound started acting up and people started complaining about my microphone. I'm honestly not that thrilled with this Razer product as it is usually my go-to brand.

Good quality audio and mic. Squeezes pretty hard on my ears and extended use forced me to take them off due to too much discomfort. Would be perfect if my head was smaller

I moved to this headset after my audio jack in my computer broke, so moving to USB seemed easier, I used to own a pair of Razer Tiamat 2.2's the sound from what I've tested is much better on the Krakens, and after calling some friends on skype they couldn't believe the quality of the microphone on these Krakens, for this price it's defiantly worth it. Now for why I put 4 stars instead of 5, my only problems with them is the microphones light can get slightly annoying when playing games and talking to friends. To summarize excellent product, I would highly recommend it, and it's price is pretty damn low for what you're actually getting. I have 100% no regrets with buying this product. After buying this headset I highly doubt I'll return to analog headsets in the future. If you have the same problem I did where the sound went through the computers internal speaker set the headset as default audio thingy in your control panel, takes 2 seconds, then you're ready to configure on Razer Sound, which is recommended to have with these headsets, found on razerzone.com

Headsets alright, the mics a little too loud and the braided cord is very annoying

The build quality is good, the surround sound works. Very comfortable for ‘all-day’ use. Would definitely buy again.

I've used my Kraken as my exclusive sound system since I got it, and I haven't once had a problem with it, even after several hours of continuous use. Great sound quality, and it's got amazing surround sound

Best headset for a 150-below budget. So perfect, this will be the headset you dream of.

Nice solid headset. good sound quality. very comfortable. easy to get everything setup thanks to razers synapse. one complaint however. my laptop is creating some weird interference noise down the mic channel. a little bit of tinkering fixed this however. all in all, a solid choice of headset

The 7.1 surround sound is awesome to game with everything is clear and crisp, The mic just as good, The only downside to them is they can make your ears sore after long periods of gaming but apart from that there a great headset.

Setup is easy and straightforward. The sound quality is very good. It made me play some of my favourite songs so that I could hear subtle aspects that were lost on my older, crappier speakers. The “virtual” 7.1 surround sound made my gameplay more immersive. With Arma3 I think that I am now a marginally better player, sine I am better able to pick out where hidden shooter are. I do find that after extensive use, more than 3 hours, the padding does get a little sore around the ears and top of the head. I feel that it was money well spent, although it would have been perfect at 20% less.

Definitely worth the cost, especially for a usb headset the sound and mic quality is top notch!

I bought these because I wanted to upgrade to something with Surround Sound and something with good bass and the boxes have been checked. The Surround Sound works great for when i'm playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and the bass is great. In Razer Synapse there is an Equalizer so you can get your music how you like it, then in another tab you can add the bass boost (which is what I liked). I would recommend this as a 2nd or 3rd headset, but not as your professional life-long buddy one.

For a relatively low cost this headset provides great audio quality. The 7.1 works great and the software that drives the headset is both functional and easy to use. The one thing I don't like about this headset though is the round ear cups, whilst they are well padded my ear doesn't fit inside them. This means the padding is resting on part of my ear which does reduce the comfort slightly. However over all this is a great product and I would recommend it.

A few minor issues getting going with other Razer gear (Mouse, Keyboard & Keypad) in Windows 8.1. Once running, takes me to another world!! Totally worth it..

He loves them, has them on every day. I listened to the sound..it is pretty amazing. I couldnt believe you could hve such incredible surround sound and bass in a headset..yay Caroilne
