This game is simply outstanding. It surpasses most of its contempories and even 90% of the seventh generation games. Fast, fluid and intuitive combat and controls. It is truely a well developed sequal to the original that perhaps stands out as the defining graphical masterpiece of the PS2.
This game was once the pinnacle of rarity on the PS2. Reportedly less than 5,000 copies released in the states, and somewhat less than in PAL areas. I recommend you to get this as soon as you can, this reprint will not be in stock for long.
ZOE2 was one of the first games I played on the PS2 and even now I still
enjoy it!
I was amazed at the game-play, graphics and re-playability of the game when
I first started and even today still feel that this game could compete with the
latest platforms!
As far as action and fun goes this game is great! You are constantly fighting
off hordes of enemies from the very small, like a pilotless fighter, to the
massive, like a battleship! What's really great is that you have an astounding
amount of different weapons and moves to try out that let's you customize your
very own style of playing.
The game itself is actually fairly short. If set to an ‘easy’ difficulty level you can skip the cutscens and finish the game in about 3 hours or less, but it has plenty for you to do in terms of bonus stages where you can play time trials, boss battles, versus (2p or Con) just to name a few.
“If it's so great, why not a 5 stars?”
The game and graphics are great! The plot and voice-acting, not so much.
It's not what MGS2 was to some of us, but I just felt that the characters
motivations, especially those of Nohmann, the main antagonist, just didn't make
sense at all. Maybe I'm too used to classic super-villains like the Joker, but
this guy just came across as nothing more than a power hungry
froot-loop! :)
If you're an anime fan, or super-robot fan, then you are going to LOVE this game! Even if you are not, I strongly advise you to at least check it out! You won't be disappointed!
Even though this game was made many years back this game is in the running
for my own personal game of the year beating many PS3 competitions.
The controls are easy to master and the visuals and story for this game are
amazing as well as the special edition opening sequence,
But what I love about this game is the zero shift sub weapon which gives you
super speed and clock the game once and you can carry this weapon over thus
using this sub from the beginning.
As a player of the first ZOE and eventually a fan I was really bummed that WE in NZ didnt get this game for some bogus reason…when it first came out you got this game plus a demo disc of Metal Gear Solid 2 which was well worth the purchase… ohh yeah I cant wait, Jehuty orbital frame here I come lol.
This is the much improved sequel to 2001 game Zone of the Enders. It's been
awhile, but I can say that this is quite an improvement over the last game.
Missions are a little more varied this time around, although still with the same
hack n slash gameplay, the game doesn't tie you down to just “protect the
colony” style side missions.
There are no options to change language track for the cut scenes- this will be
an issue for some people while others won't care too much.
It's nice to see some progression in this game and hopefully that can be
further expanded in a 3rd game.
