Description

Featuring advanced technology and characters both familiar and new, Jak II:Renegade, is a true plot-driven adventure game, where every mission has a direct effect on the storyline. With stunning graphics and animations, Jak II:Renegade, takes gamers on a journey through an enormous mystical world, darker than they have experienced before, as an immersive tale unfolds.

Features:

  • Jak II:Renegade fully integrates an intriguing plot with the gameplay – every mission in the game has a direct impact that drives the story forward.
  • Gamers will meet a cast of brilliantly designed characters, each playing a significant role in this elaborately written and highly immersive drama. Players may have a difficult time detecting friend from foe as personal agendas, entangled motives and mysterious relationships emerge.
  • Players are in for a fast-paced experience as they are transported to an enormous and seamless adventure from past to future and through a massive metropolis that is three times as large as the entire world of the original Jak and Daxter: The Precursor LegacyTM. In addition, there are more than 15 areas outside of the city walls that Jak and Daxter must explore.
  • Gamers will enjoy enhanced graphical detail with visually stunning and intricately detailed character and environmental models. Characters are made up of 15,000 polygons per model, versus 4,000 polygons in the original Jak and Daxter.
  • With the addition of four powerful weapons, players expand their move set and will embrace the freedom to use them at any time.
  • Take over any vehicle to get from place to place, or to escape the Baron's clutches.
  • Transform into Dark Jak to open up a whole new move set and even new weapons that are upgradeable throughout the game.
  • At any time, ride a unique hoverboard across the expansive city or take your time grinding rails and performing tricks.
  • Gamers will experience innovative technology and incredibly intelligent AI, allowing for not only smarter enemies with dozens of distinctive animations, but also for the possibility to fight alongside NPCs during certain missions.
  • Never see the same citizen twice with a technology that generates distinct NPCs throughout the entire city.
  • Players will enjoy more than one hour of movie quality in-game cinematics, top-notch voice talent and a truly dynamic musical score.

"This is a must have game!"
Make no mistake about it, this is a great game. The only slight problem that I have with it are the graphics. I'm not saying they're not fantastic, they are great. There is however a lot of slowdown, especially in the city. There is also a lot of jumping in the grapics. I have not worked out whether this is the game at fault, or whether the TV I have is not up to scratch to play it, even though it plays other PlayStation games fine.

Other that that this game is likely to give you many a days pleasure, and is about 5 times longer than the previous one, not to mention having great replay value. One of the first missions involves scaling a crumbling tower to capture a flag, and it was so much fun. This lets you know very early on what the quality of the game is gonna be. :)

    "The Ultimate Sequel"
I only played the original but I got the correct impression that it was rather short. This time round Naughty Dog have proved again that they are the kings of platform gaming.

    Positives:
-Characters and cutscenes are funny. I love watching Daxter trying to hold on as Jak spins. In another cutscene Daxter gets drunk and sings while you receive the briefing on your mission.

-The gameplay is really fun. The many driving missions aren't exceptions either. You can run round blasting monsters or transport agents to your hearts content.

    -The game isn't too easy.

-The game has replay value. There are many side missions and orbs to collect.

There are no flaws in this game. 5 stars, no question.

    "Platforming with Attitude"
Jak II is one of the coolest games around and takes the platforming and action genres and combines them into a very polished title.

Being set in a GTA-like living city allows Jak to steal hovercrafts and escape from guards and the inclusion of weapons is great for taking the guards out. The story is also a step up from similar games and manages to hold your interest.

If I was going to pick one bad thing it would be that the music and sound effects get a bit annoying, but the voice acting is great and the game fully deserves a 5 out of 5.
