4 stars "Different"

This game is not typically what I would go for but I have found it to be a fun game. Lots of characters to choose from and each with their own special moves and storylines. The game starts off easy and then increases in difficulty as you get further in to the game. Once you have completed one characters story you can change characters and start the game all over again following someone elses story and quest. Not the greatest game I've ever played, and not very complex, but it is fun.

5 stars "A small step up from the last one"

I thought Dynasty Warriors 4 was fun- now I have this.

A lot is the same at first glance, until you choose a characters story (‘musou’) mode. Now absolutely every character (of 48) have their very own story line- so it's more enjoyable to play with everyone. Every level has its own unique map too, so no two level uses the same map.

The only bad thing is the music is a little bit stranger, but otherwise I thank Koei for making this, and MightyApe for getting it to me THE VERY NEXT DAY.

4 stars "More Of the Same - Which is good"

The Dynasty Warriors franchise has been upgraded many times yet the game ultimately stays the same, hack and slash, get exp, get stronger, hack and slash, find item. The latest installment in the popular series has some attempts at strategy in it, namely the new (to the ps2 versions) base systems.

Also, weapons have returned to what they were in DW3 and now you only do battle with only one, albeit unique and much stronger bodyguard than the previous games.

This game is very enjoyable although moderate and heavy gamers of previous titles may not like this game. It is perfect for those who are new to the series or are fans of KOEI or the Dynasty Warriors games.

The final weapons for each character are easier to get than the previous games (sounds like DW5 Extreme Legends is on it's way) but there is still tremendous depth and replayability to be found in this title.

No surprises to be found here but still a solid game that will keep you busy for months.
