Description

Dragon Quest makes its PAL debut in full 3D! From the sprawling towns and labyrinthine dungeons, to the hills and plains that divide them on the world map, all of the environments you pass through on your epic journey spread out before you seamlessly. You may lose yourself in the remotest corner of the globe, searching for hidden treasure, or suddenly stumble upon a whole new village or castle as you explore the depths of a shadowy forest – these are the kinds of experiences that will delight and amaze you on your adventure!

The visuals resemble those of a high-quality animated movie, making you feel as if you are actually walking around in one of Akira Toriyama's cartoons. For the North American and European releases, we have added voiceovers to the already impressive event scenes, imbuing the unfolding drama with greater emotional depth. Furthermore, the cutting-edge animations for both monster and player characters have been enhanced in the Western versions to make battles more dazzling and dynamic than ever before.

Dragon Quest: The Journey of the Cursed King features:

  • Since times long forgotten, a forbidden scepter had lain sealed away in Trodain castle. Until one day, a mysterious jester called Dhoulmagus disturbed its rest and freed the scepter from its ancient bonds. Using the scepter's power, Dhoulmagus placed a spiteful curse upon the whole kingdom. In the space of a moment, the people were transformed into thorns and the land was frozen in time. To add insult to injury, the King and the Princess were turned into hideous beasts!
  • However, the curse left one person untouched...a young guardsman...You! Now you must embark on an epic journey to save your king and country and lift the shadow of the evil jester's curse!

"Frustrating"
I believed the hype and brought this game, and while it certainly has good graphics and a massive gameworld leading to great longevity, it has some annoying features that frustrated me and killed the fun quite early on (I ended up returning the game). I'm informed that the annoying aspects such as the save game system (early on walking back to town is the only way to save) do improve later on with more ways to quickly travel and teleport around the map.

As a FF and rpg fan I thought I would be onto a sure winner, but the frustrating start and annoying save system ruined what would have otherwise been an epic game. I'm sure 90% of players will put up with this long enough to find the great game underneath, but it is worth noting that there are no perfect games and therefore any review giving perfect marks with no mention of downsides is probably showing bias.

"Must for Fans of Pokemon Diamond & Pearl"
Dragon Quest is an ok game if you like turn based games with awsome graphics. The story is strange but fun and it has a good challenge to it like collecting monsters (which will be introduced later in the game) and battling other monsters 4 money$!$.

Battling comes up randomly when ur walking which kinda sucks, but a must have for fans of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl etc!

"A must buy for JRPG fan"
After all these years, finally a new Dragon quest, and to make it even better, graphic design by Akira Toriyama. (You can see a lot of similarity between this game and Dragonball) . Story line is pretty good, a lot of side quests and mini games. For those who love JRPG, this is a game for you.

"One FUNNY GAME!"
This is one humourous and adictive game! I could not stop laughing!
I enjoyed it very much with all the side quests and mini games plus the alchemy items you can make, it also has a lot of plot twists and a good storyline.
Different skills become available as you level others up. If nothing else it's worth buying just to see Yangus's "UNDERPANTS DANCE" (that's NOT a pun, there really IS a skill by that name)!
A MUST HAVE!

"You can teleport at the start"
Too Anonymous,

Are you an American? because if you actually look in you inventory bag there is an item at the start of the game that allows you to teleport around the map. It is has the name something Wing.

If you can make it past the boring start you will be rewarded with a good story, you have to look at the side quests so you can get the other out of the way story.

If you have an short attention span and like shooting and more shooting this game is NOT for you. If on the other hand you want a game that makes you think, has a great story many jokes and cool animations then this game is for you. Just because you arent saving the world doesnt make this a bad game.
