Large digital screen, easy to read during the day. At the press of a button you can activate the backlight for a few seconds, but I was a little disappointed with that. It was just two green LEDs on the egdes that didn't really light up the centre all that well, but it is good enough to see the time when you wake up from your reoccuring nightmare in the middle of the night.
When the alarm sounded for the first time, I was a kid in my local arcade again. It brought back so many memories…ah good times.
My major problem (which is why I only gave 3 stars) is that the alarm is loud…very, very loud. It didn't sound all that loud when I tested it during the day, but when it went off the next morning I just about hit the ceiling. It gave me such a fright. And the lack of a snooze button on Pac-Man's head means you have to fiddle with the clock to find the correct button on the front. You can't just give it a whack on the head.
Do yourself a favour and put a bit of gaffa-tape over the speaker to muffle the fog horn a bit.
