Description

Cole, an everyday guy, sets out to deliver a package in the downtown area of Empire City. Present at the scene of a devastating explosion that rocks Empire City, he barely manages to survive the event. As riots erupt in the aftermath, the city collapses into chaos and becomes overrun by powerful criminals. The city is quarantined from the mainland, and television broadcasts link Cole to the scene of the crime. Cole is now a wanted man, but he’s also wielding extraordinary powers as a result of the explosion.

As an evolving mystery unfolds, Cole must learn how to grasp his newfound super powers as he searches for the real culprits behind the blast in an attempt to rescue Empire City from complete anarchy.

Features:
  • Be a Hero: Take on the role of Cole, an everyday guy and urban explorer, who develops a wide range of electricity-based powers. Learn how to adapt to Cole’s evolving powers in an attempt to save Empire City and its people.

5 stars ""Do I want them to love me... or fear me?""
I'd heard a lot of good things about inFamous, but I'd also heard a few bad things. So I was a little skeptical at first. But that quickly vanished, and I was drawn into what I am tempted to call the best game I've ever played. I played through and finished the game as good, reaching Hero rank.

The base story is original and intricate, dark and sinister, with some incredible twists. You can also alter minor details through choosing between good or evil actions. I've heard this game is even being made into a movie, and it doesn't suprise me. Now not many games have storylines good enough for that! The gameplay is great fun, and kept me entertained for hours on end. At times I found, that when doing a boring mission I didn't want to face the monotony and frustration. But at other times, I could barely grip the controller my palms were sweating so much.

Then there's the graphics. I often found myself taking a break, to just stand there atop a building and admire the awe-inspiring landscape. The lighting is wonderful, the people realistic and the city itself is wonderfully detailed. The music is kept to a minimum, but usually creeps in at times to give a mysterious undertone or to back an action-packed mission.

I'll admit, there are a few minor bugs, but nothing that gets in the way of enjoying this awesome game. Well worth checking out.

5 stars "Best PS3 Game to date!"
I still have not yet finished this game, but from what I have played so far it is what I would call one of the best PS3 games that have been released so far, you are able to play as good or evil, which changes the character you are and also the abilities you have, I first started playing the game as good, but half way through I changed to evil

5 stars "Great fun"
Well at first i was skeptical but after playing, i can't stop.

The pure freedom to play how you want with the powers that make jumping from building to building just that much more fun.

The story is also very impressive and i love the art throughout the game. If you haven't played this yet, skip the demo and get the damn game already :D

Can't get enough of it.

5 stars "Another truly next generation game"
Wow... I previewed the game based on the demo, and was less than blown away (although I did like it...)

I am not sure where to start... the intro to the game is a little slow (and the tutorial to the basic controls is for someone who has NEVER played a 3rd person game before) but it does provide a great insight into how spectacular the world of infamous really is.

As I stated in my preview, the city is a little lifeless, with generic saddened coloured inhabitants wandering the dank streets. But as you play through the game, those inhabitants, while bland in look, become desperate people in need of a protector (heh, although I tend to kill them all) and actually present some character. As an evil 'terrorist' they become fun fodder for my various abilities - I am sure as a hero they become very important, as you can't just start a firefight with the bad guys and blow up everything in the street.

The most impressive part of this game is the real distinction between good and evil. Sure, your look changes, but so do the inhabitants reactions towards you. I assure you, it isn't fun getting pelted with rocks that cause you to lose function (and your powers!) while you recover. Powers are different depending on the side you choose, posters hanging around the city change, different news casts, different cut scenes, different dialogue. Fable has nothing on this game! There are good and evil missions, which you can do no matter your persona, but doing an evil mission locks out the good one - so make your choice wisely. I am so blown away by the distinction, that I will most defintely play through a second time as a hero, as tough as it may end up being.

The mission structure is a good way to introduce you to the city in your own time. Basically you can explore all you like, and you still find something new come mission time. However, missions are repetitive, but not in a bad way. If you take your time and look around the city for a while, you dont really notice it so much, especially because there are enough story missions interspersed to distract you from boredom.
I was a little peeved that every time I wanted to go into a new area, I had to enter the sewers and do a pretty standard platform game styled level, but as you get a new power with each one, after the first few I was actually looking forward to my next drain outing.

Cons? There are a few places you can get stuck, and a few places that you should be able to stick to that you can't, but overall the game allows for some amazing acrobatics, and as you try different things, you unlock stunts. Ignore the annoyances, and the infamous engine proves itself worthy of being used in future games.

I give it a 4.5 out of 5 stars, but I am happy to round it up :)
