"Really good game"
This is a great game for those of us who love our wrestling. Legends like the Rock, Stone Cold, Hulk, Ultimate Warrior, HBK, Undertaker and the list goes on. It also comes with a pretty good story mode where you relive, redefine and rewrite different chosen matches form past wrestlemanias.
The graphics are great and the crowd is really into it and it is great to watch them when the old school entrances occur. The entrances themselves are awesome with old school names coming up on old school backgrounds. The only gripe with presentation is that they all look like action figures which while it is okay for guys like the Rock and Stone Cold and the SvR09 guys, it looks a bit odd on guys like King Kong Bundy and Andre the Giant with their six pack among the big flab.
The relive, rewrite and redefine modes are very fun and give you great build up video before each match to get you amped up with all the old scghool trash talking (Hulk Hogan pulls out a ripper with Andre the Giant about all the little Hulksters) and all of it is real footage and loks great and gives you a great feel for what you are about to do. You have a list of objectives for each match and need to gain a gold medal to advance. This in my view is great as you cannot just beat down a guy but you have to do what was done in the match or otherwise in the rewrite and redefines. The only problem is I would love to have had more matches for these modes as it does feel a bit short. However there is also a Legend Killer Mode where you create a guy to take on the Legends and if you have SvR09 you can import those characters and kill those future legends and if you want play as one through this mode.
The big cvhange in the game however is the control system. While this really annoyed me in the demo, now that I know what does what it isn't so bad. It will annoy certain people who love the old system but it is good for those who want to get this game as their first wrestling purchase. It is a bit of a pain in steel cage matches or hell in a cells when you want to do a turnbuckle move but end up climbing the cage! Also you start every Hell in a Cell on the roof - and once you go in the cage you cannot get back up there whcih makes the mick foley throws come very quickly which is a bit daft.
Overall a great game but has some issues and a lack of quantity in it to be excellent. If they get more story and wrestlers in it htru dlc it will be worth its while - but I highly doubt that for this title.
