After having played the demo for this game, I feel that this is going to be one of the best flight simulators to date. There is a great deal of realism, a very good control scheme, and the game gives a certain sense of urgency, makes you feel as though your actions will be crucial in turning the tide of the war.
The air to air combat is excellent, you can fight with assistance on which limits what your plane can do, but makes flying easier, or assistance off which allows you to make use of the full capabilities of your plane, preforming tight turns, and a maneuvre called the “slide” which allows you to slam on the air-brakes and turn around all the way almost on the spot.
The only unrealistic element i have found in the game is aircraft missile capacity, which is no doubt there so that missions have a decent length, since if your plane was to have a realistic missile loadout, you would either have to return to a landing strip to releoad every couple of minutes, or the missions would be over in just a couple of minutes.
Overall this is shaping up to be an incredible game, and may be the best combat flight simulator to this day.
Got this game a couple of weeks ago and I'm still addicted to it. Apart from those Blazing Angels games PS3 has never had any air combat games put out until HAWX came along. When I was younger I was really hooked into those F117A simulation games on PC and this one has the same-ish feel.
There are about 18 maps or scenarios to complete, when you go up in Ranks (40 in total) you get more options with different planes and different weapon packs. So even you have completed the whole game once there are options of playing through again with different planes.
The multiplayer options seems great too. Options of Co-op play with 3 other players from around the world or fight against them in dog fights.
The only thing which is left out for me is the take off and landing parts. Every scenario you start by being in the air already. For the arcade people that's probably fine as you are in the air and concentrating on fighting straight the way. But for the real aviation loving people the thought of having to take the plane from the air strip and having to land your plane after finishing your mission would satisfy us even more.
Still though, it was $100 worth spending in my opinion.
After owning AC5 on my PS2 I was hanging out to play a similar game on my new PS3 expecting awesome graphics etc, and after doing a little bit of research I decided to purchase TC HAWX…MAN..was I misled. After about 1hour of gameplay I was feeling majorly gutted that i had spent $100 and was wanting my money back. The storyline was as bad as Ace Combats but the replays, to my disbelief were worse graphicly than AC5 I had bought 5 years earlier. Also things feel majorly unrealistic when you earn something like a Su-37 flying at Mach2 and your wingmen in old ‘beat up bangers’ accelerate and pass you at Mach 50(i might as well have had a bi-plane) Whats up with that?? If your into more realistic flight games avoid this one at all costs!!!
When i saw this game on mighty ape i thought i my as well buy it and see what it is like. It has great graphics, heaps of planes, and dont even get me started on the maps(they are real satellite photos). The only down turn is the small campaign, i always like do turn games on the the hardest mode and finish it like that, and within 10 hours of game play i had finished it. But it dose pull it back with the challenges in the game, i still haven't got them all. The online multiplayer is alright have played better and worse, the biggest problem i have with it is that is is only a 1 player game. But still is is a good game.
Well i think H-A-W-X was a great game i think the graphics were particularly great. The game is guite challenging and i like a challenge. So i think hawx is a great game good for people that like a hard challenge (like i said before).
