Description

“Fantastic, nail-biting cooperative play…” Gamespot 7.5/10

In the not too distant future, the world is divided into regions controlled by mega-corporations known as Syndicates. In this future, business is war, and you are the weapon: the latest prototype agent for Eurocorp.

In single-player, embark on a unique sci-fi shooter adventure of corruption and revenge, as you utilize DART 6 chip-enhanced technology to breech, manipulate and control the wired world. Or form your own Syndicate in four-player co-op and dominate nine action-packed missions inspired by the original Syndicate game.

Syndicate is the re-imagination of a cult classic franchise from 1993 – a unique action shooter set in a not too distant future, where Business is War. Take on the role of Miles Kilo, Eurocorp's latest prototype agent, and embark on a brutal action adventure of corruption and revenge.

Features:

  • Chip Enhanced Gameplay: Slow down time, see through walls, and breach your enemy and everything digital in the world with Dart vision – A neural DART6 chip implant that allows you to interface directly with the Dataverse.
  • 4-Player Online Co-op: Assemble your Syndicate for global domination. A 4-player, online co-op experience like no other, with chip enhanced gameplay and 9 missions re-imagined from the original Syndicate.
  • Visceral FPS Experience: Utilize an upgradable arsenal of futuristic weapons, armor and ear to annihilate your enemies and harvest their chip technology for personal advancement and sinister corporate greed.
  • Sci-Fi Fiction: Immerse yourself in the world of Syndicate 2069, with a world-class sci-fi story experience, written by bestselling author Richard Morgan.

Review by Gamespot

“… it's important to know what you want from this shooter before you commit. Come to it for the thrills of joining a team and mowing down gunners like so many weeds in a Colorado research facility. Come to it for a chilly vision of the future, where the minds of meddlers can be altered with a simple computer program. There are numerous games better at providing single-player satisfaction, however, and this is where Syndicate falters. While it isn't entirely successful, the campaign still dares to be different. And while "different” isn't the same as “great,” Syndicate reminds you that with a bit of creative effort, shooters don't have to play by Modern Warfare rules to be truly modern." 7.5/10

The Good

  • Fantastic, nail-biting cooperative play
  • Aggressive AI keeps the pressure on
  • Online progression system gives you reasons to return
  • Smooth animations and dazzling visuals
  • Gunplay and hacking lead to thrills.

The Bad

  • Weak storytelling wastes the cool setting
  • Mediocre, poorly-paced campaign
  • Ridiculously oversaturated lighting effects impede gameplay.

"It's good to have a fresh take!"

Why all the hating for- No one has even played the new syndicate yet! Why remake a game but not change anything about it- Looking forward to a new experience set in a rather familiar SYNDICATE universe!

5 stars "Not bad, not bad at all.."

I just played the demo (4 player co-op online) and its pretty awesome! I am heavily considering getting this game now. The trailer looked interesting but I wasn't sure it would be good but I have a decent idea on how good this game is now! The demo is available now so if you aren't sure like I was, go check it out!

2 stars "Great, but buggy"

The game itself is great, seriously great. It reminded me of deus ex and other ones, but with less rpg and just far more shooting. As well with pretty much no free will. The way is set and one can't really influence it. But it's alright, Graphics are brilliant, story good, gameplay great. Sometimes one doesn't need a free world etc.
BUT one mayor thing. I haven't seen so many bugs in a game since a long time. One mayor one still hasn't been really fixed and the game crashes on PS3 and one has to restart just to crash it again at the same spot. Still waiting for a fix on that. It is a mayor game breaking bug and there are many more less bad ones, but still 2/5 otherwise it would have been a 5/5

5 stars "Great game, Awesome Co-op, Sick Sound Track."

Awesome Soundtrack with artists such as Skrillex Flux Pavilion and more, Co-op is spot on involving Team Work and other aspects that the ME3 Multi player Demo has not yet indicated.

5 stars "Awesome, simply awesome"

After seeing the banner here on mightyape, I watched every trailer and subscribed to the youtube channel. Playing the demo graphics are great, a few textures could be better. And lags a bit even if you host.
I see why they made it R18, as it contains exploding heads on a headshot, and people can be sawn in half by a shotgun. There isn't buckets of blood but flying limbs and such push the rating up. It is still amazing and weapons feel almost real.
If you look down you can see your body also if you slide or sprint and jump you see a bit of your character aswell. And coop is true to original, in the sense of 4 agents sent around the world to give their company the advantage.
