This was my 3rd SC game I had played and my first SC purchase, and it was a great choice that I did buy the game. Interesting new characters and a unique campaign from the rest, although it is rather short.
But what it lacks in campaign it makes up for in customization and multiplayer. The dialog can be hard to follow and boring at times but after completing the single player side of the game and some multiplayer you'll keep coming back to the game for more. Overall a fun, addictive and nostalgic experience.
Let's get one thing straight, if you do not like Soul Caliber, then you will
not like this game. I you love the old Soul Caliber then you will not like this
game. However if you are open to change, appreciate a quality and well rendered
fighting game, you will enjoy it.
This edition comes with the game in a book style case (even the edges of the
pages look authentic) and lots of extras inside, all of which are worth the
price. The soundtrack is very cinematic and well put together, the dvd is decent
quality and has good inside info on the game build.
If you are a fan of the series and want to build your own character and play
through the story or play online with it, then this is also a game for you.
It may not be the perfect weapons/fighting game for everyone, but for the price, this collectors edition is ell worth it!
Just brought this one for a friend of mine and cannot express my surprise on what a neat, attractive and professional looking Limited Edition! For those looking to pick up an awesome game for the friends and battle head to head look no further!
Damn! this game is so awesome~
Got it at a bargain price… Love the game & all the awesome extras. Stoked!
Highly recommended.! ;)
Saw the box set at a great price and bought on impulse for my son.
He was happy with it and the contents.
Game play visuals are very 'pretty’ and the two player vs mode rewards players who know the combo’s and not button bash (like me).
Campaign seemed short as my son clocked it very quickly that day but the real value of these games comes with playing against another human.
I love this game to pieces I would be lost if this game ever got broken I love it so much :D
I'm not the biggest fan with weapon fighting games but for $15 Collector's Edition Soul Calibur 5!- Who wouldn't love it! I'm also a fan of Assassin's Creed so using Ezio is pretty cool. I give it 5 star because of price, fun game play and it's a game you don't have to spend too much time on.
First off I would like to add I am not a fan of the Soul Calibur Series. I pretty much bought this game with just reading a little about it before hand.
This is a great fighting game. It plays in some ways similar to the Tekken Series. Although I found it requires using your weapon attacks and blocking much more strategically against your opponent rather than just button mashing madness.
Which you can only do in this game on Easy difficulty setting, even then it has mixed results. The Graphics to me felt more 3D than 2.5D as the arenas are very interactive and in some instances you can destroy them. I felt this really added to the fun factor.
This game also has a neat leveling up system where each fight you win earns you points. You get more points if you get better combos and perfect ratings. When you level up you unlock items and costumes from what I can tell so far.
This collectors edition comes with an amazing art book containing some biographical details about all the characters and accompanying art and concept art of each character. It also comes with an original soundtrack CD and a making of DVD.
I have yet to view those features as of typing this.
Lastly you are given a signed letter from the Producer and Director of Soul
Calibur V thanking you for supporting them in making this game.
Which I thought was a nice touch to add to this box set especially for the true
and loyal fans of this series.
It all comes in a lovely red velvet lined case that resembles a grand looking hard cover book or tome. Being a book lover I was especially delighted in this design choice.
Before I bought this game I was not a fan of the Soul Calibur series. I am now however a fan of Soul Calibur V and I look forward to seeing what the creators of this game come up with next.
If you are a lover of the Tekken series or even just fighting games in general then I highly recommend this enjoyable game.
One of the worst games I have ever gotten on PS3, the story is lacking and it is very boring. The fight system is also really bad, it makes it confusing by replacing the ps3 buttons with letters. The only good thing about the collectors edition was everything but the game.
Overall this game is super bad…0.5/10
The story mode is a little lacking although this is the general direction
Namco are taking with the story components in their fighters and so this problem
isn't exclusive to Soul Calibur V (Think Tekken 6 Scenario Campaign). The meat
of the game however, which is what you should be buying the game for, is solid
and fluid. Some of the old characters are missing from this installment replaced
with new ones. While this may upset some players, it makes sense as the game is
set 17 years later. I'm pretty sure Taki doesn't want to spend her retirement
years in perpetual combat.
Quick battle mode is fun pitting you against player created characters, although
opponents can variety widely in difficulty (α Patroklos-based characters in
particular). As with any fighter the game gets better with competitive play
either on or offline.
I thought id write a review of SCV because a lot of people might be looking
at it because its on sale.
If you liked all the older SC games, then don't buy this and wait till they
release a new one.
Its dissapointing. Single players “Story” is not even worth playing, which
was what made SC games good in the first place. Character customization is
pretty much the same as 4. Special characters are douchbags youd never select
anyway. Get 4 instead, least its got other modes as well to play. Graphics arnt
that much better either
I am so glad I didn't pay full price for this, the paraphenalia that accompanied the game was great but the game itself is a step backwards from its predecessors
Game play takes a bit to load good graphics and teenagers think its pretty cool.good package
Graphics are amazing, but the game needs more characters, and I still have to get used to the buttons. But overall its a good game and well worth what I paid for it.
I've been playing SC since II, played I on a friends Dreamcast but not thoroughly, the “story mode” has an initial cutscene which is the norm and was fine but after that first one, everything else is a motion-manga which annoyed the hell out of me, and most of the other characters have been replaced with different characters that do the exact same thing they did so I found it to be stupid and there to be no reason for it, I just gave up on my first hour of playing.
I mean, seriously.........The last Soul Calibur that was released was probably the worst game continuation of all time......I mean, yeah the graphics are obviously better and yeah there are more characters to play as.......Other than that, the game was, and still is, complete and utter crap!!
Mighty Ape is 100% New Zealand owned and operated

Great new game with interesting new characters. Character creation is really really good. Its a pity theres only a story based around 4–5 characters instead of the old style of story mode thats in the other games.
