5 stars "Epic"

This game is pure ownage! You can design your own character with moves based of an original character and play through arcade or story modes. There's also the Tower, where you play through floors unlocking items for your characters and fight your way to the top. You can even take your custom characters online! Just beware the people are online are pretty good lol.

The graphics in this game are amazing. The characters, the armour the weapons are so detailed. Since I love Soul Calibur im giving it a 10/10! If you haven't played any other Soul Calibur games I'd still recommend picking it up! SWEET

3 stars "Buy the Game - Own everyone else."

When Soul Calibur was released for the Dreamcast in 1999, it set a new standard for fighting games on home consoles. Subsequent entries in the series have changed very little as far as the weapon-based fighting mechanics are concerned, and have introduced new features and gameplay modes with varying success. Soulcalibur IV is no different in that respect; the series-first online play is a great addition, but though the visuals have improved and the gameplay has undoubtedly evolved, it still feels very familiar. And that's not a bad thing. This is a great game that ANY fighting genre fan will enjoy. And the character creation is just, simply put, BAD-ASS!

4 stars "Great Gameplay."

Soul Calibur IV was unexpectedly good. It is very similar to other fighting games, in that you are given a few core characters at the beginning and then are able to go on to unlock new characters with different techniques and fighting styles.

The gameplay is brilliant if you are a newcomer to the fighting genre. It is easy to get used to and gives you space to develop your skills. By having a variety of characters, you are able to get used to different styles of fighting as well.

One thing to be aware of is that there is no trophies to attain in this game, which is a little bit of a let down for PS3.

5 stars "A very solid fighter"

Namco have made a game that is easy to get into, but provides plenty of depth for those who want it.

Most moves require a minimal number of button presses, so are easier to learn than other fighting games. The challenge is instead to know when to use a particular attack, which is how it should be. Character abilities help to add a little more unpredictability to the mix.

The basic story, training and arcade modes are all present. The Tower of Souls mode is an interesting addition, and should provide a good challenge to more determined players.

Graphically the game is excellent, with beautifully rendered characters. I have hardly ever noticed clipping occur, despite the amount of equipment jutting off some of the characters. The stages are also very detailed, although some of the most impressive looking ones are not used at all in the story mode.

I'm very happy I eventually picked up this game. If you want a good fighting game, but find Street Fighter 4 too unaccessible, then this is probably the game for you.

5 stars "Amazing"

Totally worth it! With a myriad of combos unique to each weapon set, unlimited character customization, basically the best arcade fighter I have ever played, it will not disappoint, as someone who hasn't played any previous soul calibur, it takes a few hours to learn how to fight properly but after that, the fun begins. Awesome for playing with friends and can entertain for days on end (believe me I've done it!). Truly a great game
