PS3 Keyboard

You can use the wireless chat pad to chat to friends on the Playstation Network, surf the internet or navigate through the Plastations XMB menu using the great touch pad function. It took me quite some time to get used to typing with the keypad and Im still getting used to it as the keys are small and too close to each other-which makes it uncomfortable from typing after awhile and sometimes I enter in the wrong keys (from the keys being closely spaced). The keypad is a faster alternative to using the PS3 controller to type with but you could invest a little more money in getting a wireless BlueTooth or USB key board which is heaps better to type with and more comfortable. The keypad can be attatched to the PS3 controller very easily but is much easier to type with when detatched from the controller. The keypad is like a very mini QWERTY keyboard with shift and caps lock functions. The touch pad function is my favourite thing about this product because you can slide your fingers on the keypad and this moves the on screen mouse, this function can be turned on and off via a button on the keypad.

The keypad has a sensible layout, with 3 shortcut keys located on the bottom row that open the message box, turns on touchpad mode, and displays your friends list. Pressing the orange/blue buttons (located above the DS3 trigger buttons) gives you symbols. The keypad has its own on/off toggle switch but requires a separate USB cable for charging via the PS3 (i.e. It doesn't draw power from the attached DS3). The touchpad works well, despite the few complaints here. @ “AmirMohammad” and “chris”: You two probably didn't read the manual (which is hidden away behind the packaging and can be easily missed), you can “fix” your problem by doing the following (quoted from the manual) – “Before using touchpad mode for the first time, you must perform the calibration. To calibrate the wireless keypad, switch the wireless keypad to touchpad mode, and then keep pressing the orange button and the blue button together for more than two seconds. The calibration will complete after the touchpad indicataor flashes once. Do not touch the touchpad area or turn off the wireless keypad during calibration.”

Overall, I'm very impressed with the build quality and feature set provided by this keypad, it makes entering text a breeze!

This helps me to type a lot faster when using my ps3. For those that say its too small and hard to type on, you must really struggle using smart phones as this has more surface area then a QWERTY keypad on cellphones/smart phone. This keypad also has spacing between the keys where as a phone usually does not..

Plus it looks cool :)

Does exactly what I expected it to do with the touch pad it is in a whole new level. Especially at such a low price.
Increases your typing speed by miles :)
Worth every penny and would recommend it to all.

Great add-on to the PS3 controller for people who type faster then they can use the onscreen keyboard like me.

Heaps of nifty shortcuts on the bottom of the unit as well.

Granted you can just plug in any USB/Wireless keyboard into the PS3 this is smaller and more convenient to use. It attaches itself to the top of your PS3 controller, I don't know how much more convenient it could get!

Wouldn't hesitate to buy this when it goes on sale, and knowing the epic Mighty Ape that happens fairly often. :]
