4 stars "Great team shooter!"
The first SOCOM to come to PS3,
Great online play, get into massive battles and conmmunicate with your squad to achieve victory, just as much fun as the old PS2 SOCOM games!

3 stars "Ok shooter, could be better"
I've played many shooter genre games in my lifetime and I enjoyed the previous SOCOM instalments on PS2, but I have to say this PS3 version is rather disappointing comparatively.

It is an online only game... that is fine with me as games like Warhawk is similar and I enjoyed that.

I've had a few gos at this game now and the servers seems to be a bit clumsy, hard to find matches and when you do get into matches, people drop out after entry and on 2 occasions I was playing against 4 others against a solo me as all my teammates have left the game before the game even started. The server for some reason don't even up the numbers even after players have departed.

The controls are a little odd compared to other games too. Took me ages to get used to them.

It only cost $60 so a lot cheaper than other new releases, but even then I wish I could have that back.

2 stars "You pay for what you get."
This game is really one of those games where its the price you pay... an what you get. It comes at a pretty good price, easy trophies, reasonably interesting gameplay value... but lacking in a lot of other areas. Only played it once, before getting rid of it. Wasn't my cup of tea. But it may be someone else...

4 stars "Multiplayer only"
Ooops didn't realise this was online multiplayer only. Good game though have had fun playing against a bunch of snotty americans and some cool italians. Getting owned by six year olds is humbling for the soul. Great graphics and fun multiplayer options but no campaign or local multiplayer options.
