Prince of Persia Trilogy will give gamers the opportunity to relive the critically-acclaimed Prince of Persia trilogy, remixed in high definition graphics and stereoscopic 3D on 3D enabled televisions. Prince of Persia Trilogy includes the three full-length renown games: Prince of Persia The Sands of Time, Prince of Persia Warrior Within® and Prince of Persia The Two Thrones on one unique blu-ray disc.
Key Features of Prince of Persia Trilogy:
The Sands of Time was a memorable moment for my in my PS2 gaming. Who could
forget swinging effortlessly from a lone pole in an antiquated chamber,
rebounding off walls and careering along tapestries like some grave robber who
escaped from the circus-
Thus, I was anxious to check out this re-mastered collection.
The good news is that these games are pretty much just as you remember them.
There is no bonus content per say, which is great for purists, but I'm left
thinking that Ubisoft could have added a little extra for us Prince
die-hards.
The graphics are the most noticeable upgrade, now being displayed to crisp HD.
This is a double edged sword for me however, as the atmospheric “foggy,
hazy” look of the PS2 titles is gone. You are now left with clear stark
textures, which can make the palaces and rooms seem somewhat lacking in detail
and finish, compared to modern games. But these games are coming up on ten years
old, so I digress.
The sound can grate at times, with it cutting out altogether frequently. This is
my biggest gripe with the game and a marked downgrade from the original
titles.
If you have never played the Prince series, then by all means pick this title
up, it's great value at the price.
If you have played or already own all three, then there isn't much new content
here for you, unless you want a second (or third or fourth) run through with
cleaner textures.
These games are a classic piece of adventure/action gaming history and while
this package lacks any real extras, it's a must buy if you have never
back-flipped over a sand demon to stab its counterpart in the face with a dagger
that can turn back time..........obviously.
The Prince of Persia Sand of Time trilogy is are three of my favorite games ever. If you ever played them in the past then you know how awesome they are, and now you get to play them in all their HD glory.
The Sands of Time, the first one in the trilogy was a brilliant game. It has an epic story that you have to follow through to the end. Great game play though combat a little repetitive at times it is made up by the classic wall running and swinging glory. This game also has a great and witty sense of humor.
The Warrior Within is the second installment. This game is much darker than the first game but just as entertaining. Once again a must play through till the end as you do want to know if you can change your fate. Warrior Within sticks with the same wall running and swinging structure as the first game however the combat is much different. The combat is much smoother that the first as you can duel wield weapons and your combat can vary greatly with the help of using enemies and the environment.
Third and finally there is The Two Thrones. This game is the weakest of the three games but still worth playing. I found that this was a much easier game that the previous two because the tried to make it so different. It still has the basic elements of the other two POP games but it tries too hard to incorporate and entirely new system. Not wanting to go into too much detail but it almost like playing as two different characters when all you want is to wall run and swing like there is no tomorrow. Still can be entertaining but wont kill too much of your time.
3 fantastic games in their own rights, that vary enough to keep each new game exciting; and somehow managing to maintain fun gameplay. The free-running controls well, the new HD cutscenes are ever so pretty (though in game graphics haven't had the same High Def makeover, sadly), and the worlds are fun to explore. If you consider yourself a gamer, or just have a mild interest in gaming, you owe it to yourself to give these a play. They're superb.
The PoP series as we love and remember it. My only (very, very small) disappointment is that there is no one main menu screen that allows you to navigate between the games easily (i.e. The first thing you're going to be asked to do is to select if you want to play SOT, WW or TT – and then after that you're ‘stuck’ with that game unless you quit, go back to the XMB and restart).
Three Classic games… Three individual Trophy lists… 3 Platinum's… One Disc… The addition of Trophies, and jump from PS2 to PS3, provides a reason to sit down and play this brilliant Trilogy yet again. If you've played them before, aim for Trophies… Have yet to play it, you owe it to yourself to.
