Mafia II reviews

As soon as I started a new game I couldn't put the controller down! Now I'm starting it again collecting the rest of the trophies. Apart from the story, the visuals and gameplay are great, and the music is brilliant. Would of loved to live in that era!

If you liked the first one, I recommend you get yourself a copy of Mafia II.

This game is awesome and definitely worth buying. It is like GTA in the olden days.

Good game at a bargin of a price

Good game, keeps you interested, good use of different styles eg shoot em up, driving, fighting, exploring. Great value for money

Though the rendetion onto the PS3 had it's downsides due to the company producing it have no experience with the system it was a very enjoyable game. With it's twists and turns in the plot the game builds up to an exciting and very unexpected ending. Consisting of unforgettable scenes, and unforgettable missions the game is a great experience waiting to happen. Prepare to laugh, cry, and be shocked as Mafia 2 pulls you into the life of Italian american crime through the 40's and 50's.

Got this game for way less than retail price!

Good game worth playing if your a gta fan, especially for the price can't go wrong

i brought this game last week for the best price i have seen yet. the game arrived the next day. great service.
as for the game from the moment i put the disk in i could not stop playing. along the lines of GTA but set in the past. the cars and weapons fit the times and the story line is great. best game of its genre i have plaed in a long time. you can follow the ath of the story or if you get bored you can just walk around stealing cars, robbing shops or picking fights on the street. great game. no complaints at all. good game for anybody.

While the gameplay is nothing new, a decent story and amazing atmosphere make it definitely worthwhile. Plus you feel like an ultimate badass in one of your epic suits whilst holding a piece.

I got this game in a mighty ape sale for $30 an absoloute bargain. I recieved it the following day and was suprised to see a code for some DLC. The game offers a huge city to roam through and some real cool missions to play. The missions included planting a bomb in a huge hotel, sneaking into a bank and stealing war bonds, and raiding hostile gang hideouts. The only reason I prefer Red Dead over this is because Mafia 2 doesn't have side missions and it is not as long as Red Dead.
Brilliant Game

Mafia 2 is a great sandbox styled game in which the player is immersed into the era with guns and cars that fit the time so you fell as if you are in an old gangster movie.

This has got to be one of the best games I have ever played.
the graphics are great but what really caught me was the story, it is such an intense story driven game and it brings out the characters and their roles! I'd give this a 6 out of 5… IT'S THAT GOOD!

The only issue with this game is that you seems to be doing so much driving everywhere. The missions are pretty good, but just too much driving. Prefer GTA in that you can take cabs to get to places faster

I have always been intrigued by the Mafia and it's history, love movies like the Godfather series, Goodfellas, Casino so I was always excited about this game but something is missing, I just can't place my finger on it.

I would probably give this 3 and 1/2 if I could. The story is great and pushes the game along, it plays like GTA except it is actually quite linear there are few side missions only the main story. The problem is it is so focused on the cinematics there are large chunks where you feel like you haven't played anything. Without spoiling anything, there was a case of driving to a location (about 5 mins) for a cut-scene, then driving back.

The action however is great, the cover system is easy to use and looks cool and the storyline definitely keeps you sucked in – just wish I got to do more…like “whack” people, run rackets on the side. The Godfather games had the idea just not the execution – a mix of the two would have been perfect.

This title was billed once as the rival to GTA, it is not.

However this does not mean it is bad, merely different. The story is set in a specific time period and therefore subject to slow vehicles and average music (sigh). There are a few things that have been added to give the game more “depth” but ultimately are fairly unnessassary.

But! Do not lose hope! The story is pretty epic, the voice acting is sharp and the game overall is pretty stunning to look at. It was a little shorter than you would normally expect of an open-world-ish title like this but pleasent enough to make you run through again, if only for the trophies.

The DLC gives it some extra playability. On a positive there is no multiplayer trophies, which is great! So many games jam in unessassary online to beef up a title (Assassins Creed Brotherhood!) but this one does not.

So, in summary- I enjoyed it and may even give it another whirl sometime, but if you are looking for the epic open-world gap filler til GTA5, this aint it. Get Red Dead Redemption if you haven't already.

I liked this game alot

Im not a die hard mafia fan but if you were Id imagin this would be great. I found you really have to play the story line or else it just gets boring.

I thought it was a cheap remake of GTA IV, nut thats just me.

Game overall is pretty fun to play but, graphics are pretty average such as skin texture. Car physics and graphics are epic! story mode is relatively short. Storyline isnt too bad. Overall a fun game.

If you like lots of action then this game is a must!
Only downside is the game was a bit short, but worth it
