Description

The Orange Box includes the following great content:

  • Half-Life 2: By taking the suspense, challenge and visceral charge of the original, and adding startling new realism and responsiveness, Half-Life 2 opens the door to a world where the player's presence affects everything around him, from the physical environment to the behaviors even the emotions of both friends and enemies.

  • Half-Life 2: Episode One is the first in a series of new adventures created by Valve that extend the Half-Life 2 single player experience. It details the aftermath of Half Life 2 and launches a journey beyond City 17.

  • Half-Life 2: Episode Two -- the second installment in Valve’s episodic trilogy advances the award-winning story, leading the player to new locations outside of City 17.

  • Portal -- a pioneering type of single player action game that rewrites the rules for how players approach and manipulate their environment - much like how Half-Life 2’s Gravity Gun reinvented the way gamers interact with objects in the game.

  • Team Fortress 2 -- an all-new version of the legendary title that spawned team based multiplayer action games. The game’s daring new art style features the most advanced graphics of any Source-based game released to date.

5 stars "Great Deal!"

This is a great deal. The orange box comes with 5 different games and none of them have “crippling frame-rate issues” as many websites and publications would have you believe so don't let that put you off one of the best deals ever. Not to mention you simply cannot miss portal =)

5 stars "Amazing!"

I find fighting myself through combine forces out of city 17 amazing. Valve did a great job creating an illusion of an open world. I say illusion because you have to go down a set path but it feels open. I find that there are some physics “puzzles” which involve see-saws and bouyancy. TF2 still has people still play (online only, no split-screen) there isn't a lot of people on but still around a few hundred a day. Learning how portal began was also interesting. And you get a lot of gameplay. It took me a week to get through portal and the half life2's and I was playing 4–8hour days!

5 stars "I bought for portal and it is a excellent game to play on ps3"

I bought to play portal on ps3 which I find to be an cool game as this is what I prefer , and good for the kids . Had problem with crackling sound in some stages but got over it . Load time slow but no different than some other games I have .Have not played other games on disk but portal is excellent and now continues with portal 2 which I have now. Both portal games I really like and wish there more of this type

4 stars "Imperfect but well worthwhile"

This version of the Orange Box does suffer from a below-par port, but only takes away slightly from what is otherwise a fantastic deal.

I primarily picked this up for Portal, and fortunately the claimed issues are very minor. Load times aren't long, but are slightly annoying in their frequency. I never encountered any framerate problems.

The rest of the package was a bonus for me, although unforunately there are more problems here. Half-Life 2 featured a highly annoying crackling sound problem at specific chapters, and moderate slowdown, but nothing that ever got my character killed.

So all in all, this is probably the worst version of the Orange Box you can get, but if you don't have a good PC or Xbox 360 you shouldn't let that stop you from playing this. Portal is an excellent short-but-sweet experience, and while Half-Life 2 shows its age it is still a solid story-driven game.

Just don't expect perfection, and you should enjoy yourself.

5 stars "Brilliant"

Brilliant, works and looks great on the big screen. All the games in The Orange Box are worth giving a good go.
If you have not played Portal 2, don't, play portal first, you will find it in here The Orange Box. Humorous and challenging but not to the point of boredom, they have certainly found the right balance
