As the third band specific RockBand game this is a change from the early rock
and roll greats of AC/DC and the Beatles.
Green Day have selected a good mix of songs – although the entire American
Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown can be quite tiresome to play through from
start to finish.
I was liking the early Green Day tracks from the early 90s – brings back
many memories of my rebellious childhood.
The vocal harmonies are becoming standard in RockBand titles since the Beatles
RockBand and fit well into this three piece band.
I was a little disappointed with only four venues – having the boys rock out to the same stages gets rather boring.
The price for another 40+ songs is about right. As it is pretty much an add-on it doesn't need to push the $100 mark as a “new” game.
I got this on day one, played it for about a week and then transferred the
tracks to RockBand2.
Its great how all these songs can be exported and added to the ever expanding
music library.
Will have to wait for RockBand3 to use the vocal harmonies again.
The game isn't terribly difficult – I believe the drum tracks were the most challenging (I play all instruments on expert)
Well if you love a bit of punk rock and love Green Days music – then this is a must buy!!
I was scoping this game out a while ago & saw the comment pop up that “if you like rock band & green day you will love this”
While that comment is true there is a bit more to it than just that. The best comparison to this would have to be the Beatles game for Rock Band. The detail put into the game is similar with venues, appearance, sets, actions & crowds all very carefully created. This means the game is great to look at if you are not busy looking at coloured notes
The difference between Green Day & Beatles is the setlist. While the Beatles arguably had more legendary songs, they were not really worth replaying apart from a few. Green Day has alot of Punk from early days & Rock from recent times. The songs are a heap of fun to play & much more enjoyable than Beatles. Any players who get stuck with bass out there should buy this game now as bass is prevalent through the game as being challenging, especially in the early sets. Melodies are much more suited & Green Day suits a Rock Band game music wise. Videos & Photos are used as rewards in Career mode again which is a good touch. A plus for this verison compared with the previous Beatles title is these songs can be transferred to Rock Band & RB2
The setlist chosen is actually quite well divided between early & recent songs which will come as a plesant suprise to some. 2 albums are in full on the game – Dookie & American Idiot, while the most recent, 21st Century Breakdown, has all songs that are not already on the PSN to purchase which could make it 3 full albums along with other songs from various other Green Day albums
In the end anyone who still likes their Plastic Instruments should get this game as the songs are worth having for playing on any of the instruments. Unless you cannot stand Green Day this is a must for Rock Band players to add to the massive library of songs
This rock band game is a must have for fans of Green Day, the songs are all awesome and the likeness of the band is pretty good. It is a really fun game to play, although I doubt non-green day fans would enjoy it.
