4 stars "Great fun"

This game is great if you have a friend playing with you. Otherwise it borders on just average. The missions are long but the overall game is pretty short. We finished the game in just three days. The good thing is that you can download a few additional maps (one is free, the other costs about $12.50).

I found the gameplay pretty interesting (using aggro etc) but sometimes it can get pretty frustrating when you cant see where you're enemies are firing from. Also the controls for melee damage is pretty bad. When you go close to an enemy and press the R2 button, more times than not, your character just doesnt do anything and waits to get pummelled.

On single player mode, this game can get even more frustrating as your AI partner does all kinds of stupid things like drags you the long way around (sometimes deeper into enemy territory) to attempt to heal you.

All in all, I'd say this is a pretty good game and I really enjoyed it.

1 stars "Mediocre shooter"

I'm going to have to disagree with the poster below me, this game is mediocre, I played this game through about 4 of the missions, they are quite long for each mission but still. The gameplay has a good system, the Aggro system and EA have excecuted it well, the AI sucks, the graphics suck (Not that I really care for graphics much but really, the textures are bad!), playing this on single player really doesn't work as your team mate is constantly out of line and always gets killed, i'd get Gears for the 360 over this any day! I just found this an unenjoyable experience, I would recommend it if you were going to play through with a friend and just hire it before you buy.

Just my thoughts,

Mark.

5 stars "Great two player game"

This is a good shooter that is ok when playing in single player but when you do the campaign in multi-player it is so much fun

3 stars "The PS3 take on Gears of War Game"

The story of Army of Two will really strike a chord with those who follow the happenings in Iraq. Essentially you work for a private military contractor doing the jobs the U.S. Military won't or can't. The culture is boyish and greedy, and while some critics complained about this, to me it seems to be spot on with the stories we've heard of the real soldiers of fortune in Blackwater. Army of Two has fun with it, but don't for a minute think that the real men being paid massive amounts of money to shoot big guns are somber about their duties.

The gameplay revolves around a two person squad. As a single player you can give simple commands to your partner. But the magic really happens in co-op. The ability to draw enemies (known as aggro) to one player while the other strafes is not only innovative, but one of those, “every game should do this” concepts. Aggro/threat aren't the only MMO aspects imported to this game. Players earn money accomplishing objectives which they can spend in an expansive gear & guns store. I am more than willing to admit that I too got sucked into the gun shopping experience.

Army of Two is not all guns and roses, however. From enemies standing in the corner to my partner getting stuck on a ledge, AI issues seem to pop up more than they should. There also seem to be tech issues. I had the game freeze my PS3 and have some odd draw issues where the screen looked split in two in the single player game.

Complaints aside, this is a fun game with lots of new, clever elements. Army of Two 2 will hopefully fix the AI/tech issues.

5 stars "i love this game!!"

Ok, so I took heed of the reviews on this site and decided to buy pre-owned. Since starting with my flatmate it was all we could think about for weeks and have completed it on all difficulltly levels, still wanting to play more (so have started with various friends) can't wait for the next instalment, but can understand when using the AI as second player how frustrating the game play can be as u have to tell them what to do rather than nudge the guy beside you to remind them your dying here…

4 stars "great 2 player shoot 'em up"

I bought this game has soon as it came out due to previews in gaming magazines. What really interested me about this game is the ability to fully customise your weapons and even ‘pimp’ them. The storyline could easily make a decent war movie as the way it develops is done really well. At first when I played it I found that it was a fun game that definately had replay value. But then I tried the offline multiplayer with a mate, and found it was so much more fun working with a teammate. Great game. Just a whole lot more fun with a friend!
