Description

Enter the grim darkness of the far future where there is only war, in this definitive collection of the acclaimed real time strategy franchise Dawn of War II.

The epic Complete Collection includes:

  • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II
  • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II – Chaos Rising
  • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II – Retribution

“…one part hypercharged tactical combat, one part streamlined competitive RTS, and entirely worth playing.” IGN

About Dawn of War II – Retribution
Choose your race and determine the final fate of the entire sector in Dawn of War II: Retribution, the next installment in the critically acclaimed Dawn of War real-time strategy franchise.

Ten years after the events of Chaos Rising and the fall of the Blood Raven’s Chapter Master to the forces of Chaos, Sub-Sector Aurelia remains in a constant state of warfare. The pirate Freebooter Orks have arrived to take advantage of this and loot the sector, the vile forces of Chaos continue to spread their blasphemy, the Eldar of Craftworld Alaitoc work to recover key artifacts from their past, and the feral Tyranids remaining from the failed Hive fleet invasion have suddenly re-established contact with the Hive mind.

About Dawn of War II – Chaos Rising
Your Blood Ravens have saved the sector, but can they save themselves- In THQ Inc. and Relic Entertainment’s sequel to the acclaimed Dawn of War II real time strategy franchise, you return to sub sector Aurelia where a long lost frozen ice planet has reappeared from the Warp, bringing with it new secrets to uncover and foes to face.

In Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising you will take command of the Blood Ravens and defend the sector against the Chaos Space Marines of the Black Legion. Purge the chaos filth and hold the chapter together as traitorous forces work from within to try bring down the Blood Ravens.

About Dawn of War II
It’s the 41st Millennium in the Sub-Sector Aurelia – a cluster of worlds on the edge of the Galaxy – where a battle of epic proportions is about to commence. Ancient races will clash across the planets that dot this section of space, battling for the greatest of stakes – not only the claim to the land and its bounty – but the fate of each race.

With a focus on fast-action RTS gameplay, Dawn of War II brings to life the science fiction universe of Warhammer 40,000 like never before. Experience the intimate brutality of battle as you play through the epic campaign. Clash with enemies on battlefields ablaze with visceral melee and ranged combat. Lead and develop your squads from raw recruits into the most battle hardened veterans in the Galaxy.

Dawn of War II Review by IGN
“…Relic has made a lot of bold decisions with Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II, some of which are sure to turn off parts of the RTS hardcore base, the most obvious being the elimination of base building. Yet as players we can't continue to accept the same kinds of games, complain about stagnation, and then turn our backs when somebody does something different. In the campaign portion of the game Relic blended elements of action-RPGs and real-time strategy games and succeeded in producing a new and entertaining kind of experience. The missions could be more interesting and quality of narrative delivery stronger, but what's here is a terrific alternative to the standard base-bashing real-time strategy campaigns, hopefully something Relic is able to expand and further improve with expansions. A full multiplayer suite and four playable races are there waiting for you when you're through with the campaign, and should provide lots of fast-paced bouts of brutal conflict online and in skirmishes against the AI. While the overall formula could still use some fine-tuning, the current product is one part hypercharged tactical combat, one part streamlined competitive RTS, and entirely worth playing.”

IGN RATINGS FOR WARHAMMER 40,000: DAWN OF WAR II (PC)
9.0 Presentation
Some rough edges here and there, but overall a well-crafted experience with cinematics added into campaign story sequences for added personality.
9.5 Graphics
Fantastic animations, tons of detail, and overall solid performance. A top-notch visual package.
9.0 Sound
Voice acting for the story isn't particularly strong, but the rest of the sound effects really hammer home the sense of frenzied conflict alongside an appropriately epic soundtrack.
9.0 Gameplay
Thrilling tactical fights set within a new type of RTS framework. Relic took a chance with this, and it works.
9.0 Lasting Appeal
A highly replayable campaign and some great online play featuring four interesting armies.
9.0

Amazing

5 stars "Great price for a great RTS series!"

To be honest, I started this game knowing nothing about the Warhammer 40K universe. (Except for that FPS they had back on PS2). Anyhow… Being a StarCraft II fan, I had shied away from this series for as long as possible.

Friends told me to give it a chance, and when I saw this complete collection on Mighty Ape, I committed to a purchase… And I'm so glad I did!

Even for a non-fan, like myself, you can get in on the action really quickly. It's familiar RTS-fare but it has the great twist of allowing you to customise and upgrade your heroes and squads. Which gives it this RPG style of gameplay too.

You're constantly hoping that you'll get better loot for your squads as you play through and it really motivates you to push forward.

Also, you can get some really nice graphics and effects without having a super hardcore PC rig. Which again makes it an enjoyable and immersive experience.

Three games for one price- This is a definite must-buy for RTS fans. If you were a skeptic, like me, you owe it to yourself to give this one a shot. You might just be surprised!

3 stars "Diffrent but still good"

I was told by a friend that it was different from the first one. Being a fan of the build a base style RTS, I didn't think much of this at first but then as I played it, I got more into it. A good price for a good series of games.

5 stars "A Real RTS"

Unlike the other reviewer here, I came into this game as a fan of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. I've read a couple novels & collected armies. So I'm biased.

This game is different to other RTS games. There's no building, no resource collection, no production. You get squads of Marines, charge at the enemy, and kill. To me, this is much more like what a Space Marine, or any field commander is in control of than with StarCraft.

There is of course still strategy to be had. Your different units have different roles to fill. Your Scouts will die quickly if you treat them like the other squads. Your Heavy Weapon team will be useless if you don't give them time to set up some place favourable. There's also the progression. You choose how to improve the units. Specializing in different areas with each unit. Different weapons you choose enhance this.

If you're looking for a fast paced RTS that lets you play how you want, with an interesting storyline, this should be at the top of your list!

4 stars "fun and differerent"

personally i really like this game, it has nice graphics for an RTS and goes beyond just building a base and fighting for the map like the 1st one. instead you are tasked with commanding several squads including a commander (which is you), at the end of each level you are able to fit each squad with different weapons, armour and abilities to suit your playstyle. the campaign is really fun and interesting and gets more and more instense with each chaper that is completed.
i have not played retributions campaign or chaos risings campaign yet as im still trying to finish dawn of war 2 without it trying to freeze up on me at every level. the game does not need a grand pc and should run on anything around about 2–3 years old. at least it runs fine on mine :)

4 stars "Very different from first game"

I bought this game simply because I played and loved the first game. However it is pretty different as there is more focus on fighting and less on building.
If your looking to buy this game, this is a very good deal.
To be honest I prefer the fist game but I still love this one and I don't regret buying it
