Wargame: European Escalation features intense real-time battles, stunning graphics, and the amazing IRISZOOM system, which allows a continuous zoom from a global view of the map to the heart of the action. With real strategic gameplay, rich content, integration of EugenNet and its numerous online services, Wargame: European Escalation will unite all the world's biggest strategy fans.
Set in the rarely explored period of 1975–1985, Wargame: European Escalation pits NATO (USA and Western Europe) against the Warsaw Pact (Soviet and Eastern European countries) in battles that explore “what could have been.” The specter of nuclear warfare loomed large over the real Cold War, but this catastrophic outcome was the ultimate last resort as everyone knew that the first one to start nuclear hostilities would end up wiped out just the same. Large, armored offensivesthrough Europe would certainly have been the core of this hypothetical war; and this is what the game's explosive campaign takes you through!
Features:
Its like no other. Detailed, difficult, challenging, yet enjoyable. Search up ‘how not to suck at wargame european escalation’ and you will see that you cannot just take your strategy from other RTS games i.e Generals and use it here. A tank rush will get obliterated without recon and infantry hiding in bush are always a thorn in the side. Its a very tactical game where there is no one correct approach. Very addictive too – I found that even though I thought it got a bit boring and the odds were stacked against me, I still played on. Yet I still am quite afraid to try multiplayer mode. Overall, a good game and I recommend it.
Having only played for two weeks I'm still learning – but – right from
the start I have enjoyed this game. Easy to get started on and impressive in
it's presentation – but – I'm losing ! Discovering all the ins and outs
is certainly a “learning process”. The graphics, the units, the landscapes
are all brilliant. So far I have only played solo (not multiplayer) in skirmish
mode and the campaign, and had a few successes but haven't gained enough points
to upgrade my forces so have started again from scratch !
Also good are the forums and the patch upgrades from the makers.
I can see that I will be enjoying these (fictional but ‘realistic’) Hot
Battles from the Cold War for some time to come !
