The Witcher 2 Version 2.0 includes:
The second installment in the Witcher saga features a thoroughly engrossing, mature storyline defining new standards for thought-provoking, non-linear game narration. The game also features an original, brutal combat system that uniquely combines tactical elements with dynamic action and a new, modern game engine puts players in the most lively and believable world ever created in an RPG game.
Features:
Forget everything you've ever learned from reading classic fantasy novels such as Lord of the Rings. The Witcher, based on the saga with the same name by Polish author, Andrzej Sapkowski is anything but black and white. There is no good or evil, only varying shades of grey.
The video game is much like the novels in that regard. It's a role-playing game in virtually all aspects but it forces you to choose between what you think is the lesser evil, not what is the greater good.
The game describes the world in brutal honesty; it's a cruel, harsh environment with even crueler inhabitants. On the one hand you have humans fighting dwarves and elves who seem to kill and maim any human who oppose them. On the other, you have scores of oppressed non-humans who are tired of the ruthlessness set upon them by the human race. Which side is right, which side is wrong-
The Witcher 2 is simply one of the best games to come out of 2011 for both its storyline and its gameplay. Both have been vastly improved since the inception of the original game, the combat having been greatly improved and smoothed since then, as well.
Overall, the game is worthy of a place within any RPG fans library. It's not only a great title in its own right but it also does Sapkowski's work proud.
I recently got The Witcher 2 for my birthday and so far I am extremely pleased with it!
The big pros in my opinion are the combat system and the ‘Dark mode’.
The combat is great! You can prepare for a fight by drinking potions and laying traps. But you could also run right in throwing knives, bombs and flailing around like it's not on Dark mode.
The key feature for me; Dark mode!
Imagine playing one of those games from your childhood, when you were… Bad at
video games!! gasp
But it's ok because you're a lot better now.
It brings back the challenge that is lacking in so many single player games. (
No, increasing their health and damage does not really count as making it harder
)
I have not played it on an easier difficulty so I wont see the obvious
differences. But what I can tell you is that they don't seem to boost the
health of the enemies, just the damage. As for the tactics, I'm not sure if they
would have improved or not.
But that the enemy hp isn't quadruplized when you set the difficulty up should
be more than enough reason to buy this!
There are also many choices to be made, it feels very much like Fable but there is no definite right choice. I can't wait to see how some of my choices play out in the rest of the game.
I am finding it very enjoyable, besides getting heart attacks whenever
I run over a bear trap.. In Dark mode one hit from behind can hit you for
around 100 + damage after armor. That's about half your health, maybe even
more!
It is challenging and I find the story very interesting, plus there are side
quests, many side quests.
In short, it was a very, very happy birthday.
