To be honest, I've never really been this into The Sims until this version
came out. My main reason for buying was for the fact that holidays have just
began, but if you really want to enjoy your holiday, don't buy this game, you'll
spend it locked up in your room playing The Sims 3 for hours on end.
I've read a lot of reviews, the majority saying that this game totally rocks,
and I guess The Sims 3 lives up to it. It really does take SIM-ulation to a
whole new level, flirting with death, becoming an Astronaut, robbing other Sims,
become a kleptomaniac, even earning life time rewards where you may spend them
on such things like “steel bladders” so you never have to use the bathroom
again, or the “fertility treatment” so your Sim has a much higher chance of
having twins/triplets/quads, etc. One thing I really like about this version
of The Sims is that now we can really set our focus towards building and
enhancing skills, there are about 11 different areas (some include
Handiness – a skill which, if high enough, allows your Sim to repair things
without getting electrocuted to death, or there's Cooking – a skill which,
if also high enough, allows you to cook the ol' Tri-Tip Steak without burning it
or lighting the place on fire, or there's Gardening, Writing, Logic, Guitar,
Painting, the list goes on). It gives you a lot more freedom to do what you want
than any other version.
Although, what is good news without bad news? There are some down sides to The
Sims 3 as well. Right now we have very limited Neighborhoods, one in fact. Or
two if you download the free one from their website. They are, however,
releasing software to allow people to build their own Neighborhoods (it's the
same software which developers use, which is good {great for tech-savvy users
who can manipulate their way around the software} and bad {not so good for the
faint hearted}).
I also highly recommend The Sims 3 – World Adventures. This really makes the
game come alive. Check out reviews for WA. ;)
Overall, I'd say the positives outweigh the negatives by far, that's being said that the main disadvantage in the game as of right now is being fixed this month anyway.
What a difference compared to Sims2! Being able to go from one house to another or to a community lot is as simple as walking or driving there. It doesn't need to load your destination its all seamless. It's great. You can interact with your neighbours, go for a jog or walk across the road to the shops. It's way better than I thought it was going to be.
Being able to customise your furniture and clothing helps makes your Sims unique, and especially now that the Sims have unique personalities and different goals makes the game a whole lot more challenging and fun.
The only thing I don't like about it is that you need to have an internet connection to get the 2nd city, not all places in the world have internet, especially farmers and people who live in no mans land. We can't get the internet so we're out of luck to get an updates or extras that they didn't put onto the game disc. A bit of a letdown but the first neighbourhood is huge and keeps you busy.
The Sims 3 is the best game ever! I am already hooked on it and only got it this morning. It is even better the the Sims 2 and i couldn't stop playing it. I was on my computer all of my spare time with these games and expect to be on my computer for all hours with Sims 3!!
Sims 3 is the evolution of all simulation games. Great graphics and great fun! Very addictive and will get hooked quickly if you're not already!
You can customise around about anything in the game and can then share it online for others to use or can go online yourself and get other Sim Fan creations.
Colour palette and colour wheel makes it virtually impossible to run out of
colours, meaning so many colours for customisation! From hair to house hold
appliances, the many colours are endless.
Not only is there an endless range of colours, the patterns vary lots too!
Creating a Sim or house has never been so fun!
But it doesn't stop at colours and patterns, you can now customise your
Sim's personality too!
Will you make your Sim a neat freak? Or perhaps you Sim would like to go down
the road of villainy?
So many choices and all yours to decide!!
I really recommend buying, especially for any Sim lovers out there, it's a
must have!
I give it 5/5
Thanks EA games for this awesome game!!
Happy Simming!
This game is VERY addictive. Absolutely worth your money, because you can end up spending all day and night playing! The graphics are SO amazing. The sims' faces have more expressions. Customization of your sims appearance has expanded compared to Sims 2, almost no limits in hair colour, facial features, skin colour (you can look like an alien if you want!) and body shape. Even customizing your furnitures' colours/fabric patterns are fun! What's more, if you're lazy like me, you can easily connect to the Sims 3 online store and get free items/sims created by other players (eg: Hello Kitty lamps, Mental Hospital famiy…just to name a few!)
I recommend this game. Looking forward to the expansion packs for The Sims 3!
Whether you want to be a scientist, teacher, or artist, each sim is completely unique. A fantastic game which offers millions of ways to enjoy your spare time!
I am a huge fan of The Sims for the consoles. When we got a computer earlier
this year I just had to have The Sims 3! Let me just say, I was addicted for
weeks! The game play is excellent! The Sims models are more detailed than The
Sims 2.
And there is all ways something to do in The Sims 3. Whether is chilling at the
park or watching a movie at the Theater. Sunbathing at the beach or eating at
the local bistro.
What doesn't The Sims 3 have- More life like actions. There is no “Bring in
the newspaper” option. So your Sims end up having a collection of newspaper in
their inventory.
What I thought was silly was when one of your Sims get into their car they
don't open the door. All they do is fade away then you see them appear in
the car.
But its still a great game! 5 stars from me! Well- What are you waiting for- Get yourself a copy now!

Simulate people's lives as you build them, their family, pets, houses, town amenities, and follow their careers, wishes, and relationships.
This is SO much better than the previous games. It addresses things like having a curved pool, sofas and other objects are able to be put on a diagonal, including against diagonal walls, make your own roof configurations, way more stuff available in a normal inventory, which you can top up at the sims online website as you wish! Game upgrades are also available online. Graphics are also a LOT better. One of my favourite parts is the pond terrain tool :)
Change things like your sims outfits, face shapes jewellery, tattoos, makeup and so on. Also a range of different ages that you can create instead of just child and adult. The sims also age. You can set them to automatically look after themselves instead of having to tell them everything you want them to do, if you want. Don't forget to pay your bills (in the mailbox) or the repo guy comes and removes stuff at random and there's nothing you can do!
Cheats are still available, if you just want to build cool houses, like me.
Another cool feature is that you can build basements and therefore over 3 levels on a cliff e.g.. Also you can put stuff in the roof space (though this is difficult to work into your designs).
Probably the best part is the fact that you can customise the furniture, wallpaper, rugs, benches and so on.
Downsides – no diving board! Crappy art work for the rooms. Not many cool lighting possibilities. No Laundry stuff-! Also only a lame corner shower! You can only play one active household at a time and it can be very difficult to find a previous house or household in the towns. If you do change housholds, then you lose all of your sims ambitions and wishes, PLUS they age when you aren't even playing their house – annoying! Maybe I'm just not playing it properly but it turned out to be complicated and I ended up losing a house into thin air, apparently!
Works perfectly on a Mac, though some of the keyboard shortcuts can be a little difficult to learn, especially if you played the prior installations on a PC.
Fun Fun Fun!
Okay, I was really keen to get into The Sims 3, read several reviews about it, thought it was worth getting. And it was in a way. The graphics are much better than that of Sims 2, and it's nice to be able to visit neighbors and visit the grocery store and the gallery. But… I just wish they included some of the expansion packs from Sims 2 in the game, Pets for instance, would have really made the difference. That's why I see it as a step forward but a jump back. Otherwise the game is one that keeps you occupied… All day long haha.
The Sims 3 is the best game out by far! I was addicted to Sims 2 but since I upgraded I can't get anything done.
You can instantly see the difference when you start setting up your home. One, the graphics have improved and secondly, there isn't a lag between lots or visiting friends. You seamlessly move with your Sim.
With my The Sims 3, I go online and check out what people have customized. It saved me from having to make my own and there are 100's of items free to download.
Also, there are lots more traits to choose from. Shape your Sim into a Mini-Me or be totally opposite? It's up to you and it is so much fun!
Fantastic game, if you love the Sims and are deciding whether or not to get it, I really suggest you do! There are so many more things you can do in this game, a very addictive game. Thanks again Mighty Ape!
Really cool game, But I definitely think that you need to have a decent amount of RAM for it to run smoothly!
Its a bit like all the other Sims games, but this time you can do things that you couldn't before, like organise furniture on angles, and go into town and stuff!!
On the downside, I found the controls a bit harder to get a grip on, and little niggles with how it worked, especially the go faster button(which didn't really make it go much faster at all!!)
The Sims 3 is one of the best games in the sims series at the moment as it combines a seamless world of opportunities while also focusing on the game play that takes place of the lot. The graphics are very good for the game and brings the great more deal of depth to the game.
The Sims 3 is a great way to create a person you know or just make a person up chose what they will do with the life of your Sim and with the amazing Trait system you can make their personality into anything. Also you can get your Sim out of the House and into town!
A great game and a great buy for anyone out there.
Really good game. Really easy to install. Can't wait until I can buy the expansions. Thanks Mighty Ape. It was the best birthday present ever!
Great innovation on the whole you can go out side of your house and personallity, everything has been changed, but as every sims fan knows it gets boring and you will need to buy the expansions but when theres none left what can you do.
When Sims 2 came out, it improved on the original by going to 3D and making Sims age properly, allowing players to take any number of families in any number of neighborhoods through any number of generations. Simply put, Sims 2 fulfilled the purpose of being a virtual doll house properly.
Now you get Sims 3 and the changes aren't so vast. It's more like ‘Sims 2 and’. Sims 2 and the ability to create any Sim imaginable. Sims 2 and the ability to change the colors of anything to anything. Sims 2 and no more lot boundaries. But that's not a bad thing. In fact I can't think how they can improve the formula any more with the same sized step as Sims 1 to 2.
Sims 2 players can jump right in because the interface layout and how you do things is the same. For Sims 2 players, most new features make the game better/easier. The opportunities give you something small to work towards, as well as the old wants/fears system of which only the wants remain. There are no Comfort/Environment needs which could send your Sim into a bad mood even though you've done you BEST to improve the latter. The Create a Style tool allows you to choose objects based on design instead of color. Even features that make the game more complex won't baffle a Sims 2 player. The most hyped feature is the open neighborhood. Think of the neighborhood AS the old lot system. (The lots still remain to dictate where you can and can't build/buy though).
Another hyped feature is that families you are not controlling (including custom made ones) age as well. If you like to be god of multiple families, controlling their every toilet stop, you can relax as long as you are fine with up to four families per computer. The system goes like this (as far as I know). When playing a family you can save the NEIGHBORHOOD (remember that neighborhoods are the new lots). Up to four neighborhoods can be saved at once and all families end up in all neighborhoods. So if you leave family A's save and play family B's save for a time, even though A might have changed in B's game, it will still be the same as when you left in As game.
Is it worth upgrading?
Base game to base game it is definitely better, so so long as you are willing to
go back to no expansion packs, and can handle the 4 saves system it is worth
upgrading.
Is it worth buying as your first Sims title?
Sims 2 was harder than Sims 1 because the Sims age properly; Sims 3 is harder
than Sims 2 because of the open neighborhood. If you can handle the extra
difficulty and the 4 saves system then you'll find this is a much more fun game
but if not, go with Sims 2.
This is the best game that ive played in a long time. My brother even came to
my house to play it and i cant get him off(im just gona get it for his x-mas
present).
I think this is a realy good game and totaly worth your money.
That is exactly what it is. The customization is incredible! I wish there was a 6-star or a 7-star or 8-star to rate this higher
You can make any person you know and any house you have seen. It is just so amazing. Strongly Recommended
this game is awesome! so much better then sims 2 because you are able to walk around the city to different stores and parks etc. cant stop playing it.
