Terrible, terrible attempt at merging The Sims and SimCity. This game is atrocious, and does not deserve the SimCity name. It bears nothing in common with any other SimCity game, its predecessor, SimCity 4 is superior in every single way. This game is retardedly easy and focuses not on building your city, but playing with some broken system of social energies.
I could go into more depth, but I would much rather let the metacritic score of 62 speak for itself. Avoid this game like the plague, unless you want to send EA the message that a watered down disgrace of a game is what fans want.
If you were thinking this game would be an improvement on earlier simcity
games, think again. It may have the same name but it isn't a simcity game as we
know it.
You no longer lay down areas for residential, commercial or industrial. But
instead actually place building's in, building by building.
Don't waste the money, Get or stick with simcity 4 instead!
While some people might like the fact that simcity societies is a lot more casual than the regular simcity games, I feel it is a little too casual. There are much fewer aspects of your city that you actually control, primarily your job is to determine the feel of your city. You can choose to aim it in a variety of different directions such as an authoritarian style city, a fun city or a spiritual city to name a few. Despite it being an interesting new way of building your city I feel the game is a little to easy and there isn't enough in it to keep you playing for weeks on end, but its fun for a little while though.
While it looks like EA have tried to marry the Sims with Sim City it seems like the challenge has been slipped sideways to an extent. I say this with not having too much time to come to grips with Societies and may change my thinking once I have had more time to experience the update. Merv.
As said above you can see that this game is an attempt to merge the Sims and Sim City franchises, and i would agree that it is done poorly.
It is far too focused on the social system and not the physical city, as is the case with the previous editions, which is the reason i bought this game.
This game also was too easy, from where i got to before i got too bored…
