Description

Set in a land rooted in ancient Persian mythology, the Prince finds himself caught in an epic battle between the primal forces of light and darkness: the God of Light, Ormazd versus his brother Ahriman, the destructive God of Darkness. The Prince arrives just in time to witness the destruction of the legendary Tree of Life - an act which threatens to plunge the entire world into eternal darkness. Manifested in the form of the Corruption, a dark substance that physically contaminates the land and the skies, the Prince must partner with Elika, a deadly companion, to heal the world from the evil Corruption.

Features:
  • A new hero emerges: Master the acrobatics, strategy and fighting tactics of the most agile warrior of all time. Grip fall down the face of a building, perform perfectly timed acrobatic combinations, swing over canyons, buildings and anything that is reachable. This new rogue warrior must utilize all of his new skills along with a whole new combat system to battle Ahriman's corrupted lieutenants to heal the land from the dark Corruption and restore the light.
  • A new epic journey begins: Escape to experience the new fantasy world of ancient Persia. Masterful storytelling and sprawling environments will deliver to action-adventure fans an experience that rivals even the best Hollywood movies.
  •  A new open world structure: A first for the Prince of Persia franchise - now you have the freedom to determine how the game evolves in this non-linear adventure. Players will decide how they unfold the storyline by choosing their path in the open-ended world.
  • Emergence of a deadly new ally: History's greatest ally is revealed in the form of Elika, a dynamic AI companion who joins the Prince in his fight to save the world. Gifted with magical powers, she interacts with the player in combat, acrobatics and puzzle-solving enabling the Prince to reach new heights of deadly high-flying artistry through special duo acrobatic moves or devastating fighting combo attacks.
  • All new for Next-Gen: The franchise's debut on next-generation consoles utilizes Ubisoft's proprietary Anvil engine, the same engine used to develop Assassins Creed.

"Beautiful"
Very nice move that they decided to use cartoon rendered 3D, it makes the whole environment look simply beautiful and the game much more enjoyable. I like the combo and action moves.

One thing I get to wonder though is whenever I get into trouble in the game, such as falling from cliff or other dying situation I get saved by a girl in the game. I'm not sure why they don't allow me to fail and die when I make bad moves. I just couldn't get myself killed (I mean the game character in the game^_^).

Also this game should be more enjoyable in gamepad rather than keyboard and mouse. Once you play it, you'll know the game was designed for gaming consoles.

Still there's no problem at all playing this with keyboard and mouse.

Love the game.

oh and the girl in the game is very pretty :p

"Slow start but great finish"
This game can be played a number of ways. You can go at it just for the story and dialogue, or you can be OCD and collect every single light orb. The good points are the graphics, dialogue and music. Main bad point is the combat. You only ever get to fight one on one, and it's not very complex.

Still, enjoyed the game more and more as it progressed. Stick with it and the ending is worth it.

"An enjoyable game that's a feast for the eyes"
Prince of Persia had me hooked from the on-set. While the combat is a bit of a let down - you're required to press certain buttons at certain times, and there's technically no way to die - the visuals certainly make up for that.

The scenery is stunning, and the transformation that takes place when a corrupted land is healed (the main aim of the game) never ceased to amaze me.

The storyline may be a bit weak for some people, but it can be fleshed out by having the Prince talk to Elika (the Prince's companion). The Prince comes off a bit arrogant, but I actually quite liked his character, and the voice acting was excellent.

The big thing that the game left me with was that it was fun. Not being able to die made it stress free, and the puzzles throughout the game meant it wasn't entirely without a challenge.

I'd definitely recommend this game for the enjoyment factor.

"Good graphics, gameplay - not so much"
If nothing else, this game uses an amazing use of cell-shading on characters to give them a really great polish, and the world as a whole is fairly developed, while completely seamless, so much so that you don't even need to. The sound was unremarkable, but not bad, it didn't take away from anything.

However, this is, ultimately, the extent of the game's upsides, even though they are fairly remarkable.

Cons are as follows:

-Combat is somewhat interesting, but ultimately is less involved than Sands of Time, and makes far too much use of the Simon-says "see button, press button" game play. Not very rewarding, even when you perform well.

-Time-reversal system is still implemented, but has been dumbed down simply so that you can never die under any circumstance. Also, this feature is used in places that makes no sense, a 10 ft fall will sometimes trigger it, while other times a 20 foot fall wont, causing are navigation to be too linear.

-The story ends abruptly and without any kind of resolution. Made worse by the fact the characters were actually developed. There's no epilogue or any kind of information to close up lose ends or satiate the hunger for the whole story.

And the worst...
-Platforming is repetitive, not only in implementation, but in the fact that each area must essentially be played twice. There's very little involvement in the platforming, you simply are required to press one of four buttons and it's otherwise fairly automated.

Further, the world is constructed in such a way that it comes off as such that only the main characters as a pair could have traversed them, not that it is a location that the Prince uses his "unique" skill set, which makes the whole thing seem significantly more forced than the previous games.

Further yet, the fact that you can air jump allows you to bypass having to navigate the world is a bit of a detraction.

-Bugs
The PC Version has a memory leak that will cause the game to have to be restarted or frame rate will maintain itself at a level too low to win in any button mash event.

Aside from the annoyance of the "time reverse", the game is otherwise stable.

-The Story: just so it's said, almost same world, just replace sand with darkness. Kind of ham fisted design approach

The graphics are better, but the game is inferior to all of the predecessors in almost every other aspect. Unfortunately, this serves as a step back from Assassin's Creed, which, while repetitive, was far more free interaction with environment and faster paced combat that doesn't default to shoving guys off ledges (though, you can if you want).

It's somewhat disheartening to have played the game, as it serves to remove some of the prestige of game play that Ubisoft has otherwise given to the series.
