Mercenaries 2: World in Flames

Dam this is awesome, i'm so pleased that my machine can actually run it. I took a stab in the dark and just had to get this, having read the reviews etc on it. As soon as I installed it, it was ready to go. Great game, with great sounds, speech etc. Like Farcry 2 it doesn't need a heap of Computer Grunt to run it, therefore once you've upgraded then you play it at full specs. A must for people owning an older machine, i.e. myself. Love blowing things up in it, and stealing product. If your a fan of GTA 4, then you'll love this, but more destruction.

Mercenaries 2 is a game where anything you see can be destroyed in seconds. With the ability to be able to use pyrotechnics, bombs, grenades, air strikes and an arsenal of guns! This game is just like one big playground that you can total! The graphics are not that stunning however. Even on the very highest settings it is still quite blurry and very low. But still this is a game that is action filled and is fun for hours on end. Recommended buy. 4/5

Awesome! You can destroy almost everything. Even when not in a mission it is a lot of fun. It is a mixture of Grand Theft Auto and Red Faction but in Venezuela as a mercenary.

Like to fly combat choppers against tanks and infantry?
Attack and commandeer tanks and other vehicles?
Call in artillery strikes and bombing runs?
Have no allegiance to any faction or company other than what you want?

Then this is the perfect game for you. No holds barred action and explosions GTA style.
Total freedom of choice - follow the story to unlock additional equipment and weapons, or just blow stuff up.

Smooth game play for those of us with the machines to run - its a bit of a grunta. but even with the details and effects turned down a wee bit - its still delivers on excellent gameplay.

My only bone I would pick - is the 'comandeering' technique used. Basically - pushing key to correspond with on screen prompts - a bit difficult to get the frequency right - very frustrating.

All in all a very nice and action packed game - highly recommend to adrenaline junkies :)

Apparently a few bugs have been fixed but the thing I was looking forward to was the Widescreen issue, now more resolutions are supported
Mercenaries 2: World in Flames allows the user to select the same native supported resolutions that Windows reports available via the graphic driver. This means that the while in the game the user will only be able to select the same resolutions that are displayed in the Windows display properties.

PLEASE NOTE: USING A DVI INTERFACE CABLE TO CONNECT YOUR DISPLAY TO YOUR VIDEO CARD CAN SERIOUSLY LIMIT RESOLUTION CHOICES AVAILABLE BOTH IN GAME AND IN WINDOWS DISPLAY PROPERTIES.

v1.1 Bug Fixes :

When the user sets the shader level to low in the options menu, the user can set the shaders back to high again.
The user can now cancel a contract by using a controller.
The user can set the volume levels to high and low using the mouse properly now.
When the user fails to find another player using "Custom Match" the menu options function normally.
Joystick sensitivity now operates as designed.
Adjusting the view distance from the main menu functions properly now.
The user can no longer create accounts using "spaces" in their names, thus allowing them to search online for names properly.
Paper animations have been removed from the game.
All common 16:9 and 4:3 resolutions are now available.
