Max Payne reviews

Having now played it for an hour or so, I can tell you this much: Max Payne 3 is not a game. It's a movie.

Sometimes you get to control Max and shoot some bad guys. The rails are very tight, but that's not annoying because you don't get to do it for very long.

In between short pointless gunfights you are subjected to unskippable cutscenes with gratuitous post-processing affects that make you want to clean your monitor. After a couple of these I found myself getting shot a fair bit at the beginning of each gunfight because I had stopped watching and started tidying up my computer desk, or picking my nose.

Wait till it's released on IMAX.

Aside from a couple of random bugs/crashes I really enjoyed this game. Ive completed all 3 titles in the series and while the third installment is not as “dark and gritty” as the first two I still believe it's the best. Some gamers may find all the movies “tedious or boring” however I believe they're crucial to the story and help draw you into Max's world. I've only played multi-player for an hour or so but it seems to be pretty good fun aswell. Definately room for improvement, but what game isn't. All in all a well worth purchase.

Hard mode is HARD, sometimes a bit frustrating since you can die in one shot from a dude you didn't see. The graphics are fantastic and the story is awesome and everything has a great presentation style. It plays pretty much like previous instalments and I'm enjoying that the story is non-linear. I really liked the comic panel style of the previous two games, but the screen-glitch effects, panelled freeze frames and text pop-ups in this really stand out to me. They always sync to something with the audio, which is a nice detail.

The multiplayer, I feel like a bit of a noob in that regards but it's a lot of fun and feels fresh to play. It can be as frustrating as single player as it's quite easy to die until you get a good understanding of how it works.

Story's not bad – plays like a shoot,cutscene,sho­ot,cutscene type game. Shooting is pretty tight for a max payne game and its fun enough for cheap. The difficultly level might catch you by surprise, its actually still a descent challenge on normal (not many games you can say that about).

Great game follows the previous Max Payne games 10/10

Max Payne 3 is a very enjoyable game,like most the other reviews people have posted it is like watching a movie but with amazing graphics and a awesome story and lets not forget the cool guns you get to use. Anyone who has played Rockstar Games before will enjoy this one.
