If you have played Disciples II and enjoyed it then you will probably not enjoy this. One of the biggest reasons for me is becuase the units just don't look epic anymore! They are small, less agressive looking, and look too similar after a level-up. Similarly the battle system is just like King's Bounty or HOMM which makes it feel like a cheap rip-off.
I can say that the music and graphics are satisfying enough for a modern game but it just hasn't got that charisma of Disciples II – hence why i believe the game is good in it's own right, but leaves something to be desired after Disciples II.
I have been playing this game and think it's great, there is a lot to learn but once you get the hang of it the game is much fun.
So if you're unsure about buying it or not, don't be, just buy it!
The graphics are beautiful, the plot is good and the music is not bad too. I like how you get to choose what uni to upgrade and the unit uses percentage hp rather than actual numbers so you don't have to restock it every time like King's Bounty does.
The only bad thing is the game is kind of slow if run on high graphics options. Also one game takes a few hours to complete that's fine if you want to kill time but sometimes it can get annoying.
In one sentence, a great game.
I preordered this game 3 years ago and can say it was worth the wait.
I have always enjoyed the disciples games, and have played the 1,2 and the
expansions.
I don't feel this game lets the francise down at all.
The graphics are epic when turned up and just like William, even with them turned up I didn't have a single crash.
I could recommend this game to everyone.
The patch sorted out the little tiny problems, but I found it great before
I even got the patch.
Strongly recommend, a good game to sit down to.

I have finished this game after more than a Month of playing through it (the
campaign) and it was non-stop addictive fun throughout, if you have played games
like the KB series you'll be at home with this game, but I had more fun with
this game!
There are many people who have a very bad concept of this game because they keep
comparing it to its predecessor Disciples 2, I can't comment on that as
I haven't played it (yet) but comparing it to other turn-based games I have
played this game is tops.
The game looks BEAUTIFUL with all settings maxed and I didn't have any
slowdowns, crashes, etc. Just some minimal non-game breaking bugs which have
mostly been addressed with the patch, the game ran without a hitch on
Windows 7.
The story is interesting, and the combat is fun, there are three factions: The
empire, The legions of the damned & The elven alliance, I must say they're
all fun to play with but I specially loved the elven one.
The game is great value for money as it is LONG, it certainly took me a while to
finish it.
If you have an open mind, not clouded by comparing it to its predecessor &
other games, you'll enjoy this game, I urge you to buy it as it is a great game
despite what other negative people say about it, just don't believe the
criticisms as they are blown out of proportion.
