Description

With over 23 million units sold worldwide to date, the C&C franchise has defined the Real-time strategy (RTS) genre with cutting-edge visuals, epic storylines, and rich mission complexities. The series has evolved over a decade, spawned over a dozen titles, and continues to be the genre benchmark by which all RTS games are measured. With its explosive style of warfare, the C&C franchise has grown over the years to span multiple fictional genres, including the science fiction Tiberium universe, the revisionist history of the Red Alert universe, and a twist on modern warfare with Command & Conquer.

Below you can see what Command & Conquer: The First Decade has to offer, as well as the original release dates:

  • Command & Conquer (August 1995)
  • Command & Conquer The Covert Operations (April 1996)
  • Command & Conquer Red Alert (October 1996)
  • Command & Conquer Red Alert The Aftermath (September 1997)
  • Command & Conquer Red Alert Counterstrike (March 1997)
  • Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun (August 1999)
  • Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun Firestorm (February 2000)
  • Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 (October 2000)
  • Command & Conquer Yuri's Revenge (October 2001)
  • Command & Conquer Renegade (February 2002)
  • Command & Conquer Generals (February 2003)
  • Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour (September 2003)

5 stars "Great Buy!"

Personally I think the first decade of the C&C series are great!, and having them all in this one package, gives you the feeling of what C&C has brought us through the years.

If you were keen on buying the First Decade, you would get to know the amazing story lines in all of the C&C games, have a great time playing them, as the games have such different styles of game play to suit anyone, and also the fact that mostly all of the games would run on any machine, apart from some of the later editions such as Generals, and Generals Zero hour.

5 stars "Good value"

EA have released patches which address the stability problems the previous reviewer mentions. I would rate this as a ‘must have’ for RTS-newbies, or those who only have one ZH license (or RA2, or Gens, or…) and want to lan at home with friends. The bonus DVD is good if you're new to CNC. Not exactly rivetting, but, still, quite funny, and worth a look.

What I like is that I can play the original CNC on a win xp pro (64 bit ed.) pc, with an ati x1800×l, and it plays as reliably (in fact better) than many other games that were built for modern platforms. EA deserve credit for bringing the games up to date, without changing the look, feel, or gameplay of the original.

Finally, I hate swapping CDs/DVDs to play different games. While CNC TFD requires the DVD in to play, at least it's only one DVD to play any one of the twelve games.

Great way to reminisce that revolutionized the RTS genre!
Great fun and an easy way to burn away some hours especially coming into winter

4 stars "Worth it :)"

All the classics C&C games are here and work well. Even C&C Renegade the only FPS in the series so far. One issue however. C&C Genrals and it's expansion Zero Hour don't work with Windows 7. Everything else is fine though.
