COD5 as its called sometimes, or Call of Duty: World at War is at the apex of
Activision's titles. For the first time I don't think I've finally played a
game where Jungle combat seemed so real and intense. From Firefights in the
South Pacific Islands to Riding (shotgun) on a T34 to Berlin, this title really
has made the grade.
Story, graphics and the action all complete the game well.
Unfortunately I've a bit of fair warning, unless you'r machine is what the
Fadists are now calling ‘next gen(eration) gaming platforms/consoles then your
not going to enjoy the full quality and work behind this game. Even my Laptop
(Dell1520 – last model I believe has a NVidia graphics card with discreate
memory) struggled at times and I had to 'crank it’ down in terms of
graphics.
Its a solid play that won't disappoint.
PS – like all graphic intensive games, check and load all the patches BEFORE you play to ensure you get the very best ;)
Personally my favourite CoD. Not being much of a CoD fan anyway, I found this game to have the best storyline, and the best MP Nazi Zombies Ive seen from any other CoD game.
This is one of my all-time favorite games. If I had to describe this game in a word, that word would be “Intense”. Treyarch did an amazing job with this game. The maps are large and very detailed, with an atmosphere that really draws the player into the game. Call Of Duty World At War has a very good single player story, and you can play the entire game co-op with your mates. It also has several multiplayer modes including, Free-For-All, Team Deathmatch, Capture The Flag, Domination, Search And Destroy, War, Headquaters, and Sabatoge. Plus another little co-op bonus known as Nazi Zombie. And who doesn't like the zombie mode?
I only hope the Treyarch can top themselves as I am patiently awaiting Call Of Duty: Black Ops.
I know that the WWII thing has been done over again in the FPS genre, but the bottom line is this is a must have title.
Like the others say, I agree it kinda feels like a mod at times, but another thing I noticed is coming back to it after a 6 months-year of not playing is that some/most of the servers have gone to cheating, I DIED, and gained 4 ranks (or something to that affect, it was a while ago), haven't really played since…but its more CoD right??? :(
i thought that this game was a cheap rip off of cod 4 which was excellent. the graphics look worse than cod 4 and the weapons sounded terrible. when i first played this on a friends computer i thought that it was a cod 4 mood because of the quality of it, when i found out it was a full game i was angry that they let this game exist and be a part of the COD series.
While not terrible, Treyarch really seem to have run out of creativity. Re-visiting WW2 is one thing but Cut-Pasting the engine from COD4 seems overly lazy. The visuals are reasonable but not life changing, The settings are well crafted (the jungle bits are good) if not insanely restrictive and cramped. The AI is still as thick as it ever was in a COD title but at least stays out of the way (Mostly), and the QuickTime events are no longer as terribly boringly and predictably scripted.
Multiplayer is OK but feels like its torn between emulating all the other COD games and trying to pull off a Battlefield type game mode. The perks might as well be the same as COD4 with an an old-timely look.
All in all this game is average but not terrible. Worth a look if you like a good action game.
This game has failed in every category and is a waste of money and time.I bought this brand new and special edition hoping that this would be just as good as CoD4:MW but found myself bored after 1 and a half hours. There was no tutorial for new people and if you didnt know the controls you would have to press almost every button on the keyboard.Although I already knew how to play from previous CoD's.The game is very glitchy and buggy in multiplayer mode but the zombie mode was a good challenge. The game was based in Japan and Korea but the terrain looked nothing like the real thing. All in all I give Call of Duty 5:World at War a 1 out of 5.
From the trailer it doesn't impress me but once the game start I notice the huge improvement in graphics and together with the zombie level its just awesome. Can let you know its once of the best games of 2008. The weapon selection in CoD 5 is pretty good together with the ability to get in air strike is just like god like.
They have really taken COD4'S graphics and engine and made a fantastic game. Possibly the coolest aspect of the game would be blowing things up with the Bazooka and burning things with the flamethrower. Overall the whole package is great, I would definitely recommend getting a copy.
Good game,
single player:
Suffers from invisible walls and clipping issues.
Multiplayer was fairly good, as in COD 4
Zombees: Brains: mm yes, this level is available after completing single player and can be done co-op with 4 people. Think counter-strike like buying weapons and boarding up windows by paying points you earn from kills to slow swarms of zombies. This may just be the level you and your Lan buddies want as the waves are endless.
This games big mistake:
cd-keys being linked to player accounts stored on servers and some players
finding that they have other people using their account when they want to play
causing both of them to be booted and accounts to be deleted by other
people.
