Description
This bundle includes both Call of Duty and its expansion pack United Offensive.
Call of Duty:
Call of Duty is an intense first-person action game that allows players to experience the movie-like intensity and gripping combat of World War II as never before – through the eyes of ordinary soldiers, fighting as part of a squad through the chaos of battle.
Developed by Infinity Ward, which is comprised of over 20 individuals who developed Medal of Honor: Allied Assault including all the production leads, Call of Duty delivers the gritty realism and cinematic intensity of WWII’s most epic battlefield moments – from the perspective of citizen soldiers and unsung heroes representing an alliance of countries, who together helped shape the course of modern history. Throughout the game’s 24 missions, players will be part of a squad, who bond together to take on enemy forces and achieve mission objectives through pivotal WWII battles and authentic military campaigns.
United Offensive:
Call of Duty: United Offensive is the next chapter in the award-winning Call of Duty franchise. The game raises the brand's trademark cinematic intensity to unprecedented heights, delivering more intense action than ever before with 12 new levels covering three all-new single-player campaigns: the U.S. and The Battle of the Bulge, the British involvement in the invasion of Sicily and the Russian Battle of Kursk, plus an expanded multiplayer experience with 10 new maps and three new modes of play.

"Sort of great"
Technically excellent it still comes across rather dry. The graphics are a little dated now after HL2 but still manage well. The sound is great with the orchestral pieces reminding me of "Band of Brothers". Gameplay is great, AI is quite good. Not bad value when you're getting both games together as well.
But... it didn't hold my attention like Medal of Honor. It would cut between 3 different story lines and several different heros. When you don't know if the NPC's are talking to you because your name just changed for the 5th time you know something is wrong. It really took the drama out of what should be a very dramatical game. Movies certainly don't play like that. I guess if I had taken each mission as it's own game the lack of continuity wouldn't have been noticed. It's got some real nice touches too. Like the anti-war slogans from famous generals appearing on a black background whenever you die. Most levels are pitched at the right difficulty level. About 2 are downright impossible without a cheat activated. It's really obvious when you get to them that something isn't right. There were a couple of "wow" scenes that are really cool. Worth seeing at some point. FeedbackIf you think we've made a mistake or omitted details, please send us your feedback. |
