Description
The year is 2142, and the dawn of a new Ice age has thrown the world into a panic. The soil not covered by ice can only feed a fraction of the Earth’s population. The math is simple and brutal: some will live, most will die.
In Battlefield 2142, players choose to fight for one of two military superpowers - the European Union or the newly formed Pan Asian Coalition -in an epic battle for survival. Armed with a devastating arsenal of hi-tech weaponry, including assault rifles, cloaking devices and sentry guns, players will also take control of the most lethal vehicles known to man. Massive battle Walkers wage fierce combat on the ground, while futuristic aircraft rule the skies. When taking on this futuristic armor players will need to use their wits and an arsenal of new hi-tech countermeasures like EMP grenades and smart mines to level the playing field. Epic online gameplay for up to 64 players drops gamers on the front lines as part of a formal squad, or behind the scenes in Commander Mode to direct the strategic assaults of their team-mates. For the first time in the history of the franchise, Battlefield 2142 will include a brand new game type to complement the classic conquest game. The epic, new Titan mode challenges gamers to destroy the opposing army’s Titan - a massive, heavily armored, flying warship - while defending their own. To defeat a Titan, gamers must first take down its shields, board the craft and fight to its inner core before detonating it from the inside. This genre leading gameplay innovation changes the way you play, encouraging both teamplay and strategy in explosive large-scale confrontations. With in-game success, players increase their rank and unlock awards, including new weapons, medals and more, delivering the most comprehensive and flexible persistence in the Battlefield universe to date. "Addictive"
Singleplayer is very boring, due to the lack of maps that come with the game. Also, there's only one game mode in single player, so that's gets boring very quickly.
Online on the other hand though, is very addictive. There are more game modes, and a few more maps. However, gameplay doesn't change much, but because of their ingenious points system, it gives you something to work towards, and therefore it becomes very addictive. The weapons customization option is fantastic, and some of the guns are very cool, and is not seen in any other game.
"Pretty good but not the best"
This game is a great idea but fails to deliver on 100% of it's concept some of the vehicles take a while to get used to but once you do they become pretty fun.
The part I like the most about this is the customisable trooper so far I managed to build up a heavy assault type trooper but am looking forward to upgrading in other areas. Titan assault is also another nice addition but like snipers to many people concentrated on one thing instead of going for the meat to win the game. All in all a good game but not the greatest.

"nice game, pitty bout the lag"
Pretty game. Comming from cs:s and dod:s rather than bf Its interesting gameplay dynamics - ie you really can't do it all yourself. You need team mates.
Usual dynamics apply. run and gun is almost impossible due to recoil, so see a bad guy and hit the dirt. See a walker or tank on open ground, and you die. So not to bad so far. Issues. If you haven't experienced the rubbish adsl in nz, this wont make sense to you, but if you have- well avoid this game for online play. You will go mental. Lag compensation appears to consist of drop all the packets and hope for the best. doom 1 anyone? Result is periods of massive frustration as you die over and over lieing in the dirt shooting clip after clip into a stationary target - who isn't there anymore - they are trying to knife you from behind..... Other issue - well more of an observation. tank + 2x advanced repair hubs = pretty much indistructable enemy. Sad but true. Also Titan mode = lags ville once you get on the titan for most players. Thats life. oh and CS campers/awpers will love this game!!! find a good spot and camp the silo/flag for lots of kills and annoy everyone. Really want to try this one on a lan - it should be amazing. Good game spoilt by average nz internet performance. FeedbackIf you think we've made a mistake or omitted details, please send us your feedback. |
