5 stars "Worth a look based on the previous game"

The excellence that was Arkham Asylum is reason enough to pick up this game.

Asylum used Games for Windows Live also and was pretty sucessful. I don't understand why people are surprised/up set that this is continuing. I think GFWL works well and I've had no major problems with the platform.

5 stars "GWFL not so bad"

Don't be put off by Games for Windows Live. Just create an offline account instead of an online one and GFWL doesn't cause any problems.

I have played plenty of titles on GFWL and with an offline account, I have experienced zero problems.

4 stars "Amazing!"

I was sceptical at first after I played it on PS3 as I didn't like it. But I decided to bite the bullet and get it on PC, which I did not regret. Is definitely a great improvement over the last only down side is the character development is rather short since they try to cram to many villains in. All in all it is a great game with some amazing graphics (Definitely use PhysX with this).

Description

…isn't just better than Batman: Arkham Asylum, it's better than most games on the market. 9.5/10 – IGN

Developed by Rocksteady Studios, Batman: Arkham City builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Set inside the heavily fortified walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, this highly anticipated sequel introduces a brand-new story that draws together a new all-star cast of classic characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe, as well as a vast range of new and enhanced gameplay features to deliver the ultimate experience as the Dark Knight.

Review by IGN
Batman: Arkham City isn't perfect, but listing the little things I didn't like gets in the way of all the stuff I adored. The voice acting, the challenges, the amazing opening, the unbelievable ending and the feeling of being the Dark Knight – these are the things that standout looking back. I've beaten this thing twice and still want to call in sick and chase Riddler Trophies. Batman: Arkham City isn't just better than Batman: Arkham Asylum, it's better than most games on the market.” 9.5/10

IGN RATINGS FOR BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY (PC)
9.0 Presentation
I think a few villains deserved more attention than they got here, but the story, the setting and the comic nerd love given to this game are awesome.
9.0 Graphics
PC Arkham City is so crisp and sharp. It looks great in a totally grimy, filthy way. Got to love Batman's costume breaking down over time.
9.0 Sound
Mark Hamill's Joker and Kevin Conroy's Batman are out of this world. A bit too much of the same voice actor for generic thugs. Music and sound effects rock.
9.5 Gameplay
I felt like Batman – that's awesome. The majority of stuff will feel familiar, but from gadgets to gliding it’s been tweaked and improved.
9.5 Lasting Appeal
You need to play the game twice. Then, there are the side missions, the Riddler Challenges, the challenge maps and whatever DLC Rocksteady whips up.

Review by Gamespot

Batman: Arkham City's irresistible world, joyous movement, rewarding combat, and varied side quests make it an exceptional adventure game.”
THE GOOD – Atmospheric, fascinating world rich with details and secrets Satisfying, varied, hard-hitting combat Grappling and soaring around the city is thrilling Great assortment of involving side quests Makes terrific use of a host of Batman characters.
THE BAD – Boss fights are too easy.

“…But more than anything else, it's your adventures and explorations in the city of Arkham itself that make this game extraordinary…From the speedy exhilaration of soaring high above the streets to the atmospheric thrill of discovering long-forgotten secrets in the tunnels below Gotham, this is an unforgettable adventure that will keep you coming back to the cape and cowl long after you've seen the credits roll.” 9/10
