I have played this game on XBOX360 and it was very good, improving on all aspects of the first game, including but not limited to; the graphics, mission variety, customization, and graphics.
However, for the PC version of this game, Ubisoft has implemented some measures to decrease piracy. So now, you need to be constantly connected to the internet to play, if your connection is lost, then you shall be reverted back to your last checkpoint.
I was a fan of the first Assassin's Creed game, despite its unfortunate number of annoyances and flaws. This game made me begin to hate AC1, because it simply wasn't the incredible game AC2 was. It improves on AC1 in every way. I also found the change from gritty 12th century holy lands to renaissance Italy to be a great decision, as running across the rooftops of Florence and Venice never gets old, even after hours of playing. Unfortunately, Ubisoft's (the developer) DRM means that the game has to connect to their servers in order to play. I wasn't able to play this game for 24 hours after I bought it because they were performing server maintenance. Despite this, it is still probably my favourite game ever (until Brotherhood comes out for PC). Anyone who liked the Prince of Persia series or Assassin's Creed 1 will absolutely adore this game.
Despite the DRM which everyone bagged as annoying or useless, this game still shines just like the original. And the DRM doesn't eat your monthly internet usage either, in fact what it uses is unnoticeable.
The game play itself is a lot better than the original, and doesn't feel repetitive or annoying – plus you can actually buy weapons other than swords, and you even get a nifty gun later on. The graphics could be better but I guess it will run on most machines though.
All in all an amazing game that you won't regret buying.
Improves on the first game in every way, absolutely massive and immersive cities, visceral combat and breathtaking free running moments. Thick and engrossing storyline. What else can i say? BUY IT and see for yourself.
Set in and around the beautiful cities of Italy during the renaissance period, this game is a vast improvement on the first assassin's creed. The enviroment is much more exciting visually and all aspects of the game play including climbing buildings and combat have been improved. The story line for this game interested me a lot more than the first game and is guaranteed to keep you glued to the screen for hours. With a huge array of new weapons and new content, this is probably one of my favourite games and I highly recommend buying it!
This is a great follow on to the original Assassins Creed masterpiece. With a brilliant new range of weapons, fighting moves and weapon types, the new addition to the series is definately worth trying. The only problem is having to be constantly connected to the internet although this can be fixed with a downloadable patch. I would highly reccommend this game and can't wait for Assassins Creed Brotherhood.
I really enjoyed the first game and they fixed the majority of the flaws for the second. Certainly worth a play.
Very good, builds on the first version and holds you compelled to the story right to the end.
However like the first game, I feel there is an air of repetition throughout, not a deal breaker, hopefully Ubisoft addresses this in the third instalment
I have not finished the game yet but so far it has been enjoyable. A big improvement on the original. If you enjoyed the original get this one as it is much, much better.
Many people have been complaining about the DRM however Ubisoft has obviously
sorted out all problems and so far I have not been dropped from the server.
NOTE: I am using wireless internet, still no problem
Only one thing with the graphic I don't like is that you cannot turn shadows off. As my computer isn't the best it runs better without them. But otherwise very beautiful world.
This game is incredible in it's detail. The graphics are top notch with an immersive storyline. There is a great selection of weapons and a multitude of ways to dispatch your targets.
Heck any game that allows freerunning across ancient Florence is a winas far as I am concerned
This game is enjoyable an the references to the era are good. Like the first game it has highly repeatitive aspests. The game is definately better than the first though.
Well worth a buy but i would limit the purchase to under $50.
Assassins creed 2 was absolutly incredible to me, I loved the vast improvements to the previous game and the new ideas brought to this game to make it spectacular. It also had a strong storyline and some cool interactive features which attempt to make you a part of the cutscenes. Personally I think it has one of the best ending sequences out of any of the games I have played so far and I felt so immersed whilst playing it, that it has made the assassins creed series one of my favourite of all time. And all you complaining about DRM, stop complaining.
From the outset, this game is rich, full of character and depth. There is lots to do and discover. The story line is gripping and informative and the characters are believable. That's the good…the bad: this game was never designed for PC, it is primarily a console game. This makes it rather ‘clunky’ on PC. That is, the controls are difficult to configure, in order to get really satisfying results for game play, shame really. The biggest bug of all, is the sound quality. In order for the voice overs to be heard properly, the acceleration on the sound hardware needs to be turned down. This makes for the rest of the sound to be rather poor as a result. The other fault, is the game cannot be set to a fully full screen mode, on desk top. There are black bars top and bottom. You get used to it, but it's a little disappointing.
Apart from that, the game is truly worth playing.
Not a game to buy if you want to hold on to your significant other. It just draws you in with great game play and amazing physics.
After the original “Pilot” game Assassin's Creed I had very high
expectations for the next installment of this fine series. I can tell you now
those high expectations were met and raised! This latest Assassin's Creed helps
you to keep following the history of this fine Assassin. With more
“Assassinations” and more “mind-deteriorating” strategic activities.
This is an A+ game and i hope Assassins Brother Hood will be even better.
Mind split-tingly graphics and awesome story-line. 2 elements that makes a game
into the books of history!
The DRM is so awful. Game play is fun and more exciting than AC1 due to the improved game engine and the ability to pick up weapons. If they fix this game i would give it 4.3 stars but they haven't so it will be a plain old 3.
Truly an excellent sequel to the first one.
Firstly, the graphics in the PC version are far superior to the console versions
at be expected – although in saying that, I have a very high end PC.
Secondly, the gameplay is just awesome, much less repetative compared to AC1,
the game really holds interest right to the end. The game is very expansive with
all sorts of things to do if you feel the need to move away from the storyline.
If you have a 5.1 set up, the game utilises it perfectly. Overall an awesome
game, highly immersive and well written. 5 stars.
The game is incredible. The graphics are great, plot is very interesting, with many twists and turns and the gameplay is downright fun. The game is very unique and you'll find no other game like this. The only let down is ubisoft's new DRM which forces you to be connected to the internet at all times and chews up a lot of your bandwidth.
Must buy for everyone who have good internet.
