4 stars "Nice if you can run it on full"

This game is good, very good infact. It is in my opinion the best AOE yet. The units are a little bit more comical than in the previous two AOE games, as you can see from the screenshots, but that in it's self makes the game much more fun to play anyway.
Downside: the graphics aren't the best unless you have them on near full, especially the lighting, otherwise it's a great game.

5 stars "Better than it's predecessors"

I have played both AOE I & II, and by far most enjoyed this one. If you are familiar with the previous AOE games you will be familiar with the controls, style and fighting system (Spearmen good against cavalry ect), however it includes many new features. The graphics are really good, if you have the computer to run it. With people still playing online its a good game to buy.

5 stars "Best Balanced Age of Empires to date"

I have been playing this game for 3 years now, went onto Warchief expansion, then later Asian Dynasty expansion. and came back to the original.

Over the years it had received 12 patches and is currently the most balanced AOE.

Online community is still strong so you can easily find a game, be it 1v1 or team game. various mods are also avaliable, – custom scenario etc.

For history fans, this one is less dedicated as previous installments, but there are plenty of unofficial scenarios depict historical events.

5 stars "WHOA!"

Being lucky enough to get my hands on the new Age of Empires III I decided to share my thought with the rest of Gameplanet. The grapic are right on the money being so realistic . Features in this game are much more exciting and not only can you use your fists but also a gun of some kind. Something I espicially liked about AOE3 was by far the steam trains as they are one of the most realistic unit on the game.

Go out there right now and buy Age of Empires III of Gameplanet is it is much cheaper and certainly very reliable ;) .

4 stars "Its ok I suppose"

Well I have been lucky enough to get a copy of AOE3 nine days before the release date. The gamplay is set during the colonial times which is a disappointment for me as I liked the old hack and slash style of the old one :P. Its actually really smooth and fast right until the point where you have a battle wit about 20 or more people the framerate drops quickly and your left standing almost wondering what happened. Its also fairly linear as its kill this kill that, well done! capaign mission complete! Speaking of campaigns the first mission would be downright impossible for newcomers as you are put straight into a battle with about 10 crossbowman and thats it, while trying to hold off a hord of infinite muskateers. Your 10 crossbowmen get decimated quickly and you have to build units in 5 barracks 5 at a time. that may sound like a lot but when you are building 5 at a time and they die almost instantly its no fun, almost seems like theres no stratergy involved. Enough critisising now for the good stuff. There is a much bigger limit to the population is 99 for each kind of unit as far as I know. There are other things too which are too numerous and complicated to explain in a review, you'll just have to wait and see for yourself. Ah well that me hope you enjoy AOE3 when you get it heh heh.

1 stars "Dull"

Thought I'd try to counterbalance the enthusiasm of others. I played AOEI – great, AOE2 – above average and AOM – just wonderful and I play it still.

AOE3 seems to be too “politically correct”. So the graphics are good. So the game ic sort of cute. Why is it set in the “New World”? Face the fact: most warfare is in Europe. So the answer has to be – to sell it to the US audience. Very nice and very laudable but totally transparent. And warfare in the New World just isn't that interesting. I played it a couple of times and went back to RTW or AOM.

Don't waste your money.

5 stars "played trial verion/good game"

i've played trial version from the official website
and it is good game.

This game have good visual but does not require very-high suppa duppa system.

theres new elements that wasnt in the previous version such as exp/lvl system and “home city” shipment system and etc.

you will enjoy it :)
