As built by the manufacturer, the ORB Dual Controller Charge Dock doesn’t work very well. The problem is that it uses standard micro-USB plugs that fit the micro-USB receptacle on the controller and standard micro-USB plugs have small hooks that stop the plug from falling out of the receptacle. This is a problem because when I pick the control up from the dock, I want the plug to fall out of the receptacle rather than have the dock hanging off my controller. I don’t need the plug to hook into the receptacle because gravity does a fine job of keeping the controller on the dock.
I used small side cutters to cut the hooks off my ORB Dual Controller Charge Dock and it works much better now. It’s still not even close to perfect, but can now sit in my armchair, reach out and pick up the controller from the dock without too much drama.
