"A Decent Little Filler"
3 stars"
Purchased on Mighty Ape

No Thanks! is a neat little card game which contains a good balance of strategy, chance and push-your-luck.

A numbered card is flipped; the player flipping said card has either the option of taking the card or placing a token on it. Players continue to bid until one player has to, or chooses to take the card with all the tokens bidden on it. Any two cards in a sequence (i.e. 25, 26) take only the lowest number into your end score. Once the cards are all taken, players add up the numbers on their cards, subtract the number of tokens they have left, the lowest score wins.

One of my favourite elements of No Thanks! Is that it is to a certain degree, self-balancing. The more dangerous cards to hold tend to get bidden up; the player assuming the risk also gains the rewards of more tokens to deny future cards that also double as improving their end score.

A quick, clever and challenging card game. It looks simple, but the strategies can be deceptively complex.

"So simple, so fun"
4 stars"

Despite being really simple, this game is so much fun! On your turn all you have to do is place a chip to avoid picking a card, or take that card and any chips played by other players. Its so simple and quick, yet so much fun. Perfect for when you 10 or so minutes to kill, and you'll definitely want to play more after.

Description

it is engaging. The rules are simple. Each turn, players have
two options: play one of their chips to avoid picking up the
current face‐up card OR pick up the face‐up card
(along with any chips that have already been played on that card)
and turn over the next card.
The choices aren't so easy as players compete to have the lowest score at the end of the game.

For ages 6 and up.
