5 stars "Awesome Game"

Such a good game and its about time for mature games to hit the Wii. There is alot of bad language in the game which might turn people off but i found it more funny then anything. Its a cliched game but feels fresh and very welcoming. I recommend you buy it!!!!!

5 stars "Great play for boring days"

I am not much of a gore loving person. But this game has done it for me. This arcade style shooting game has brought a new excitement to Nintendo wii consoles. The story line behind the crazy shooting gives game playing an extra touch with awesome features in buying different guns as you earn cash through every stage.

Recommended for those who don't want to waste more money on arcades, though, not recommended for children. Does swear a lot.

4 stars "HOTD Overkill is fun, polished, and really, really funny."

Even though the gameplay doesn't particularly stand out as anything more than a rail shooter, I can't imagine many people disliking this game. If asked to describe House of the Dead: Overkill in one word, I would simply have to say “awesome.”

It plays just like any other House of the Dead game you would find in arcades, a first person rail shooter where you're character moves along a predetermined path, and you simply aim the Wiimote at the screen to shoot zombies and mutants trying to kill you. Like I said, it's not a particularly outstanding example of the genre, but it is by no means bad. It is very simple and fun to play, and a blast with more than one people.

The thing that really makes House of the Dead stand out to me is it's high level of polish. This is not another average third party Wii game, you can tell a lot of effort was put into it. It has pretty good graphics for a Wii game, has slick menus, and a fantastic soundtrack. It's highly replayable and consists of unlockable extras and harder difficulties. And it is simply hands down one of the most funny games I have ever played. It is a blatant piss take of gore filled zombie movies, and a classic 80s cop show. It is very violent and explicit (it actually made the Guinness Book of Records for the most F-words ever in a game) but is well written and voice acted so it plays as a brilliant satire. This game will have you laughing out loud a lot, especially if you are playing with more than one person.

So overall, expect to play a very fun and well made, if not outstanding light gun shooter with a fantastic sense of humor and high levels of polish. There's so many little touches that you will have to experience yourself to truly make you appreciate this game. I highly recommend it, buy this game and support SEGA for actually putting effort into quality third party Wii titles.

5 stars "Undead, Unreal, Unlimited, and Unable to stop playing."

No game yet to surpass such well engineered cinematic movement and playability. Compared to “House of the Dead 2 & 3” the graphics are updated, gun selection and power ups are great in single combat but found to be easy with 2 player. Can't go past head shots that smear the rear wall and stay there despite the headless zombie disolving. Hero and villian dialogue are straight from “B” grade movie. YES, don't play this in front of anyone who gets offended, Do play OVERKILL on the large screen with subwoofer and stero loud enough to get the armed defender squad turning up! Beer and pizzas with the lads is hillarity unlimited.

5 stars "Killer game - buy it now!"

This game is a classic, and works perfectly on the Wii. It's full of more zombies than you can shake a stick at and more swear words than you can shake a tree at (very entertaining but not for the easily offended). Your game is narrated by a cheesy american voice who gets more and more excited as you dispatch the various zombies without missing any shots, and the power-ups you can also shoot (like the one which slows down the action for you to get in a few clean head shots) add an extra layer of complexity and fun. This is a (much needed) game for the big boys on Wii, just don't play it with your mother…

5 stars "Awesome!"

If you are looking for the best Wii shooting game, ‘The house of the dead overkill’ is the one you must have.

2 stars "Shooting zombies is never tiring"

Interesting story but bosses are too weak and lagged screen play is a major let down

5 stars "Wii Zombie Shooter full of Laugh out loud moments!"

To be honest I wasn't expecting much from this shooter, but once I picked it up I was hooked, and I can see myself returning time and again to unlock the massive amount of extras in the game.
It plays like an old B movie in episode form, with corny (expletive-filled) but very funny dialogue, and a bizarre storyline – but who picks up a shooter for the storyline?
The actual gameplay is frantic and fastpaced with a huge number of targets to shoot, even before you go add the “extra zombies” feature to the level, or play the Director's cut of the episode. And this is what I mean about extras and unlockables, you have in effect 3 versions of each level, about 6 different guns, 3 multiplayer mini games and unlockable content for meeting targets in each level.
But the best part – the guns are very satisfying to shoot. They feel heavy and give a great punch with the sound and impact, and really what else do you get a shooter for if not to satisfyingly shoot things.
Highly recommended as the best zombie shooter so far on the Wii.

4 stars "Pulp Fiction meets House of the Dead!"

I found house of the dead: Overkill to be a Great game. The story is very enjoyable, I found myself laughing through every cutscene. Even though the developers took a different route with the story, The gameplay is still the same house of the dead we all love. Good replayability also.

Another great title for the wii. the Gun attachments are a must have. This game brings my love for guns and my love for killing (zombies) together nicely and once again Mighty Ape bringing us this title at a great price

4 stars "If you can get past the Z-movie plot, it's"

HotD: Overkill takes the general House of the Dead light-gun-shooting zombie-exploding gameplay, and gives it a tongue-in-cheek B-movie-style setting. Atleast, that's what they're trying to do, but the plot and characters are so unbearably bad that it makes a ‘B’ movie seem like Hollywood blockbuster. And the cutscenes go on for so long with so much drivel that you will probably want to skip them after the first 30 seconds. Snakes on a Plane this is not.

They did get the gameplay right though, and they got the music so right it hurts.

HotD: Overkill also makes great use of the Wii setup. You don't need to buy an extra peripheral to play since the Wii already comes with light guns; and with room for up to four players it's a great game to break out when your friends are over and want to shoot off some Zombie heads.

It's a bit easy compared to other HotD games (especially with more than one player), but it's still heaps of fun and a great buy if you see it cheap.

4 stars "Fun game, but pretty quick to finish"

My husband and I pulled this from its wrapper last night and played it from 8pm to 10.30pm and finished the story mode. I have to say the length of play was a little disappointing as was the inability to explore (the game moves the character), but the shooting was fun with the wii-mote and there were certainly no dull sections.

The cut-scenes were quite well done, though there was a lot of swearing so definitely make sure the kids are in bed before turning it on. We will likely play it again, but not my favourite game of all time.
