5 stars "Fantastic game!"

Imported it because I have no patience. Amazing game, with endless enjoyment for all. Online in NZ sucks atm, since it seems to find no one to play with. Hopefully this will be remedied by the general release.

With friends is good times, only has slight lag and that will most likely be server stuff. I highly recommend it, for anyone who owns a Wii, as well as die hard Smash fans.

5 stars "Brilliant Game"

I've been playing Smash Bros. since the ‘64 days. They’ve always been quality games and Brawl is no exception. There are heaps of levels and characters, an adventure mode (which can be played co-operatively), and of course, multiplayer Brawl. There is just so much to do in this game. I don't feel like I've even made a dent in collecting the trophies and stickers, and I've been playing for hours and hours. It's a good game alone, but it's even better with friends, and is compatible with all Wii and Gamecube controller types. The online, as others have mentioned, is a little lacking. The speed is not that great, but if you designate a time to connect with friends and avoid laggy levels, you can get some good online Brawling done.

5 stars "Online not quite working?"

Anyone else can't find a single person in free for all? Friends match works fine. Im using USB dongle.
Maybe we can only play against other NZ'ers and just need more poeple online?

5 stars "Best Instalment Yet!"

I've been a fan of Nintendo for a long time now and have always felt that it lacked one of a kind exclusive games. However after playing SSBB, all I can say is “Good Job!”

The game is a perfect combination of single player events and multiplayer events with lot's of trophies and challenges to acquire makes this the ultimate game. I would have to say it is the best instalment to date in the Brawl series.

This is the perfect game to play with freinds or on your lonesome and you can even configure the controls.
This game can be played a million times over and still leave you hungry for more. Overall this is a great game and will soon be the single reason for turning on my Wii each day.

Out of all my QII games this one I have played the most, along side Super Mario Cart and Mario Galaxy… Anything with Mario basically guarantees success

5 stars "A Fantastic re-make Classic!"

A very close rendition of the popular game for Nintendo 64. This re-vamped version introduces a whole new assortment of characters from various different games for a variety of combat options. The multi-player option makes this a fun game to play with friends.

The graphics are very smooth and the level options are all unique.

My sister absolutely loved this game and so do I. Great Purchase!

5 stars "Excellent successor"

Brawl takes up the SSB mantle very well. Whilst lacking the graphics department it makes up for it by expanding the roster and utilizing a well crafted campaign. Snake and Sonic make hilarious additions to the all out cluster that is SSB. The spectacle of Smash has yet to die as Brawl will endure for several years to come.

5 stars "Best game I've played so far"

This game is so much fun, you can have all-on-all brawl or play through the adventure mode with 2player – which is heaps of fun! Only slight down side is the directional controls (when using wiimote and nunchuk) and having a jump button as well as up = jump. But other than that this is a supppper fun game, well worth the price and best game i have played so far :)

4 stars "Almost Great"

Let me just say this up front, Smash Bros. Brawl is a very good game, but it could have been better.
It's mainly little things that hold it back.
The story mode is stilted & really doesn't take advantage of the huge potential that it had. Rather than exploiting the many franchises on hand, it instead opts for a startlingly generic back drop.
The Character selection is good, but, if you're going to include Sonic & Snake, why not include other third party characters who're far better know on Nintendo's platform?
Now, my biggest issue with the game is something related to it's predecessor, Smash Bros. Melee. In Melee you could fight for lives, coins, time or “bonus”, in Brawl, they have removed the bonus option. Fighting under the bonus rules basically meant that it scored you on how you played, rather than just who could hit people the most. For instance, in Brawl, when playing against friends, there's nothing to stop you just picking on the newbie for an easy win, in Melee, under bonus rules, you'd lose points for such cheap tactics.
It was the most fun, & most egalitarian mode of play, & they removed it, and it's the primary reason that Brawl is not the king party game that Melee was in my household.

On a side note, for those interested, this game was actually made by a third party, and not by a first party Nintendo team, as the first two Smash Bros. games were.

5 stars "This game is AWESOME!!!"

Super Smash Bros Brawl is a great game.Tons of replayability, extremely fun and featuring heaps of characters. There is a big long story mode called the Subspace Emissary that takes about 10 hours to complete and you can play it with friends! Then theres Online where you can make friends and face eachother online!I loved this game and I hope you do too!

4 stars "A very FUN game a must have for any wii owner"

Good story mode that takes about 8 hours to get through. There are some other cool modes like challenge mode – but the best part is multiplayer where you can play with up to 4 players. There is online mode but it does not work very well unless you use friends codes.

All the characters in the game are characters from other nintendo games and the idea of the game is to knock you opponents off the screen. You can use any kind of nintendo controller you like. The graphics are top knotch, the controls are easy to learn but hard to master. So all up ssbb is a decent game.

4 stars "A Super Smashing Game!!!"

I would rate it slightly better than good. Lots of fun characters from the various Nintendo games such as Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Mario, Luigi, Wario, Snake, Sonic, Pit etc…so everybody gets to choose their own favourite hero. You can even create your own stage!

There are also trials for the previous Nintendo games e.g. Mario, Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

The Online connection isn't very good though. You could spend a very long time, just waiting to find someone else to brawl with. But still, this is a great game to add to your collection.

5 stars "Best Fighter Ever!"

This game is a lot of fun. There is over thirty characters all from popular Nintendo games as well as Sonic the Hedgehog and Snake from Metal Gear.

There are multiple levels. If you get bored of these you can build your own using the stage builder.
Brawl is really fun with friends but if you are alone single player is enjoyable too.
If you like fighting games but want something different then buy Brawl!

3 stars "Beat em up."

I liked this game alot because it was easy to play had lot of characters to choose from and you could unlock characters.
The down side of the game was that you cant do a 2 player wireless with the rest of the world (thats right one player only) and it takes hours on end to find other players online in the free for all.

3 stars "Just another Smash Bros"

I don't think Brawl quite lived up to the hype that it had built up for itself over the years, to be honest.

The online mode itself is flawed in New Zealand; it's incredibly hard to connect to any other players and you'll find yourself waiting for a game longer than actually playing the game.

Multiplayer mode is the same old, there's nothing there that's really ‘extra’ to talk about. You're still a cast of lovable characters and interesting stages.

I did like the design function on creating a stage; I believe that's probably the most innovative part of Brawl. I spent hours creating my own personal death traps and difficult stages and had great fun competing against others in my near-impossible designs.

Overall, unless you enjoy creating a stage and don't mind not connecting online, Brawl feels just like another Smash Bros. Nothing more, nothing less.

2 stars "online a total failure"

You know I game is probably overhyped when people give it 5 star reviews before it's even been released :\

Graphics are beautiful, gameplay is fun if you can get a few people together who are all into it, sound is fabulous. Pity one of the main reasons for gettng the game simply doesn't work.

Unfortunatly online against random players the game simply doesn't work. There have been the same reports all around the world and in NZ it's especially bad. I have a solid 5–6 m/b per second internet connection, no issues with router set up (I've checked over settings ahundred times, have correct port forwarding, correct channel etc) but simply cannot get a game online with random players. I sit waiting litereally fifteen minutes to join a game and then 90% of the time it's so laggy it's completely unplayable. Mario Kart works perfect, but SSBB is simply broken.

So unless you have a large group of friends who will round to play regularly, or go onlien regularly (and you get lucky enough to haveno one lagging), all this game is, is a very mediocre single player game that becomes a chore afer 3 hours.

So anyway, if you expect to have a good online experience matching your skills against strangers online -which, let's face it is the mainstay drawcard for online competitive – DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. It's simply a waste of money, dont make my mistake.
